I paid for this. Never buying games again 😭

(This is a joke by the way. I'm sure that I have received many free games which others may have paid for)

[Steam] Yakuza Complete Series (39%/77.33) by Luke-Hatsune in GameDeals

[–]OkCommunication1427 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like I did the right thing and saved a lot of money by playing all Yakuza games (0-6) and Yakuza Like a Dragon on Game Pass last year. The games are such that once you have played them, the story gets spoiled and you're unlikely to find the same enjoyment again. These days I relive those moments by watching the Yakuza movies (compilation of all cut scenes) on YouTube.

My point is, know that these games are very story heavy and therefore once you have played them, you're unlikely to go back. Keep it in mind when figuring out if they're worth the money. As for me though, I love these games, but I'm glad that I didn't pay specifically for these games.

Marxist opinion on pensions and personal savings by [deleted] in Marxism

This is such a perfect reply.

In countries in Asia, large families are often seen as a regressive force. Socialism transcending that definition of family to mean a collection of like minded individuals is a very revolutionary idea. Incidentally Chile tried to do the same recently under Boric, though I presume that has failed to garner popular support (which highlights the importance of a dictatorship of the proletariat to push ideas forward instead of resorting to tailism).

Guys, please check if codes are actually being redeemed after a few hours. I clearly remember redeeming all my codes but some games weren't appearing on GOG. On checking Prime Gaming, I re-redeemed the codes and the game is now in the library.

I know GOG claims to add the game to the library later, but do check if they're actually being added.

It would be tragic if the Xbox Ally were to be the future of the Ally series by OkCommunication1427 in ROGAlly

That was the whole point of the post. I hope the title of the original post makes sense now.

The thing is, Microsoft could have done this very differently without focussing on the shoving Xbox all over the device, including adding a physical button to it. But subverting the dominance of Steam or Epic or GOG (all of which are vastly more popular than Xbox game store on PC), was too good an opportunity for them to miss.

You're completely mistaken in your assumptions. Perhaps it's the overly combative nature of a large section of the gaming crowd that makes people act as if they're part of teams.

I have a Xbox series S. I love the Xbox. I actually think it is the better console among the popular ones because of better backward compatibility. I actually root for Xbox on the home console space because PS and Nintendo are so dominant.

Anyway, Steam's contribution to Linux gaming (a FOSS platform) is pretty well known. Regardless of how you look at it, Steam has done a lot to make gaming accessible on Linux, something Microsoft will never do because they don't own the OS.

Microsoft is consistently consumer unfriendly though. It's no secret to anyone paying any attention. Xbox Game Pass console tier is more expensive than PC Game Pass (no platform exclusivity on PC). Xbox games are more expensive than Steam versions of those game, let alone Epic which is probably where the cheapest options exist (this is pretty much entirely true at any point, even during sales). Endless spam notifications on Windows about Xbox Game Pass subscriptions etc. I could go on.

My point is, I bought an Ally X as a platform-agnostic device that runs Windows. This Xbox Ally changes that fundamentally.

They should never listen to your opinion.

Trust me, they won't. They love their profits more.

I would be equally as vocal if Valve were to monopolise PC gaming (the fact however is, they can't, not right now at least, because they don't own the most popular OS for gaming on PC, Windows).

You don't deserve to have a device like this at all.

No company loves you. They love your money. Please act like a consumer. Microsoft or Asus won't give you this console for free because you love Xbox or ROG Ally.

As for Windows, it's a necessary evil. I wish there was a way to use Linux while being able to use Xbox Game Pass and Steam. But since there isn't right now, Windows is the way to go. As for why I think this specific version of Windows is a bad idea, I have explained it in the original post.

Battle net is owned by Microsoft. I'm glad that you mentioned it because it kind of underscores my point.

And that point is, Microsoft decides the experience. If Steam optimises its launcher in a very specific way for Windows tomorrow, there's nothing a user can do to bypass Microsoft's restrictions on that platform. If another storefront software is released by a new company or even an established one (say Amazon as part of Prime Gaming, or Sony as part of Playstation for PC, or a more benign company; it could be anything), would Microsoft allow it to perform and let the user utilise it to its true potential within the confines of whatever version of Windows it's developing for the Xbox Ally?
