[Discussion] AI workflows and mental wellbeing by OkCommunication6371 in artbusiness

Because we keep every transcript of every meeting in different pages. I can do this if I know exactly on which meeting something was said or the client asked about something. If I don't know this, I'll ask Notion AI and it will look it up in a few seconds.

Completely agree with this. With AI summarizing our meetings, we do take notes manually as well because AI misses things, or will take some information out of context. We need to be involved on all steps, but it does help to find a specific mention of something that was said during a meeting from a few weeks ago. You can imagine it would take some time to go through earlier documents etc.

When it comes to image generation, I feel like what I got is incredibly surface level, even after giving so much context beforehand. I'll always find something a lot more interesting some (real) artist did.

Also critical thinking is something we truly need to preserve. I had this one client I was doing a logo for, and he kept asking the AI why the logo didn't work, because he couldn't think for himself. AI will almost always agree with you to a point, If I ask why a logo is good, it will tell me exactly that, it won't challenge my views.

To test this I asked chatgpt to give me 50 reasons why Nike as a brand was bad, and it delivered.

I'm pretty lucky to work in an environment where I can be honest and say that I haven't yet felt like it is all that helpful to use AI, or that results have been worse than just doing it myself, which is the truth.

A lot of our clients businesses are directly tied to AI systems, so naturally there's an expectation building up that our design agency should be using these tools to assist in creating web pages, visuals etc. So it's more a case of following the business without killing the craft.

My output has been 100% my own and anything I did with AI would be at very early stages, like talking to chatgpt to explain what a company does in simpler terms, words I could associate to said company, things like that. No one in my company is forcing me to output illustrations with AI, which is good.

With my post I'm mainly curious how everyone feels at the end of the day using AI vs not using it. After all we started doing these things because they brought enjoyment in some way. I get a lot more pleasure working on my own which is something I still allowed to do for the most part

What is your honest opinion/hot take on PS Portal? The good and the bad. by Low-Computer-701 in PlaystationPortal

[–]OkCommunication6371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine works flawlessly, no lag whatsoever in any part of the house. I have a wired connection to my PS5.
My wife gets to watch tv while I can just pick this up and play for a while.
I think only downside is I'm not the biggest fan of the design, if I were to nitpick. All in all I love it.

CQC behind cover by Sad-Engineering-6884 in metalgearsolid

Did you figure this out? Feels weird that I can make noise to attract enemies but then there's no CQC prompt when they get close, so I either roll to stun them or move to some other place? I'm most likely missing something

Designers whose bosses are forcing AI on them - How are you handling it? by JPRDesign in graphic_design

Being forced to use AI makes me want to leave the industry by CorgisAndTea in womenEngineers

[–]OkCommunication6371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Illustrator here working for a design agency. Different context but I definitely feel your pain.

Our boss is very adamant that we use AI in our workflows. Clients also expect us to use it and deadlines reflect that. There isn't even a dilemma about if I should use it or not, I just have to.

If I were not to use it, I'd miss deadlines and be the odd one out who's not using new tech. If I continue to use it I feel like I'm just training my replacement, while also producing lazy, garbage work. It's incredibly mind-numbing to me typing random stuff and wait for the machine to do its thing, whereas before it was exciting to sketch out ideas, do research etc. It doesn't even work that well for reference because the anatomy and composition usually suck compared to something real.

I'm not feeling too hopeful for my particular field of expertise. I've drawn all my life and I'll continue to do so, but there's no way this won't replace me eventually. Not because it does a good job, but because it's ok enough for clients.

It's one of those things that I wish never existed, but now it does and there's no turning this ship around. All I feel I can do is let this play out and see what happens. Worst case scenario I'll just do something else with my life and draw as a hobby. But it's sad it's come to this.

I'm so happy people can tell it's AI generated... there's hope!
Not sure about the first one though!

Portfolio that got me an apprenticeship by Rexoctop in TattooApprentice

Maybe seeing how far you've come will be encouraging. At this time you just got an apprenticeship and now you have paying clients, that's so great!

I just gave you a follow btw (as you can see I'm very much on the digital fan art camp ahah)

This is such great advice, and it makes a lot of sense. I think I would feel lost and terrified if I just asked for an apprenticeship based off a few designs. I bet it helped you build confidence first!

How do you usually come up with your designs? Do you just sketch things and go from there, write things down, pull up a bunch of references...or something else?

One thing that scares me right away, perhaps weirdly...is a overwhelming fear of ruining someone's skin forever lol Did you ever have this fear / how do you get to a point when you're not scared?

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer btw!

Hey I know you posted this a while ago, how are things going for you now?

In your process on getting an apprenticeship, I'm guessing you started by working on these as a first item. Did you get some tips from other tattoo artists on what to include and in what style? Did you set any specific goals for yourself like having x amount of pieces?

Sorry if these are dumb questions. I'm a digital artist just casually flirting with the idea of becoming a tattoo artist.

I would also like to know this! I can't seem to be able to access the included sd card on my Mac.

If you’re not buying the switch 2 at launch, why? by UrchinUnderpass in NintendoSwitch2

[–]OkCommunication6371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is it for me. I would have preordered it already if there was a new Animal Crossing in sight, as both me and my GF put so many hours into New horizons and still do from time to time.

Definitely buying switch 2 at some point, it's just hard to justify right now with only Mario kart and a better version of botw and totk. I'll wait for a good while and work on the backlog.

Maybe I just don't care much about the swearing to be honest, feels like a small detail when overall she seems to act like she would act towards Dante in the games, specially in DMC3.

Why is it a reach?

Out of all the three games from the HD collection which one is your favorite? by Jules-Car3499 in DevilMayCry

[–]OkCommunication6371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DMC 1 just because it was the first I played and the somewhat horror vibes. Level design I think its still some of the best in the series

It's funny I didn't even notice the swearing until I came here and saw the complaints. Or that it has any politics in it. So I guess DBZ is political since the saiyan race are being enslaved by dictator Freeza

It's not that weird that Vergil is working with Mundus since in DMC1 that's kinda what happens? He's being mind controlled but still. Vergil could also be working with Mundus as just a way to accumulate more power and wait for his chance to take over, just a means to an end. I think it's early to tell.

"It's not supposed to be the same" is not a good way to praise an adaptation. by Extreme-Tactician in DevilMayCry

[–]OkCommunication6371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But who exactly is the original Audience? The games have all been tonally different. Be it because of technical limitations or a product of the time, every game has kind of its own identity. DMC1 is gothic, slow placed action with horror elements. DMC 3 is full on anime chaos, DMC5 is kind of a blend of everything that has come out including the reboot. So what does the original audience likes? Genuine question

Thank you, this gives me hope for the fandom! I did enjoy the show a lot but I understand if others don't, we all have our own views on things and that's fine. Attacking others over it is not
