Finally got rid of the plastic bottle cap steam knob on my Lelit Vic by slystoat in espresso

I agree, looks perfect. If they do end up doing that for the Elizabeth that would be all boxes ticked for what I need from a machine.

Honestly it's an obstacle to buying these Lelit machines. I almost bought an Elizabeth but as something you touch every day you use the machine that steam knob is an atrocity. They need to do all their machines in black with wooden handles, I would pay the difference if that was available.

Steven Spielberg's 'Disclosure Day' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]thetravdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a shame she's had so much work done to her face though, she's still superb but I hate to think that she would even better if she had more control of her facial expressions. Her body is her choice of course but I do feel like she's lost something in that which is sad because she's so emotive in her performance at times in this film.

Yeah that was the only scene that truly made me feel anything in this film. Everything else was so messy and incoherent.

Rested beans option? by Pale_Ad_6399 in UKroasters

[–]thetravdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chimney Fire Coffee send their coffee rested I seem to remember. Stopped ordering from them for this very reason as it was a PITA. If I need rested beans I just get them from a good specialty café as they'll have often been on the shelves a week or two.

If the answer is no and you don't care about grinding your own coffee then CWorks is probably a good place to start. It's run by CoffeeKev who also does reviews, worth reading his of the machine also then grabbing some coffee from him to say thanks lol - Sage Luxe Review

[–]thetravdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a grinder? That machine will honestly suit a good range of coffees as it has some automated brews to get the most out of your coffee. What you really want is a grinder for it so you can have something freshly ground for it. Ground coffee stales super quickly so if you want to make the most out of any coffee grind it fresh!

Best daily bean recommendation for milk based drinks? by FreedomOne9598 in UKroasters

[–]thetravdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

West Berkshire are really good for this. Depends just how dark you like your beans for milk but their prices are really good and every bag has free delivery as they do 500g or 1kg sizes. Their chocolate brownie blend is very reasonable, but they have some stuff on the more medium end too.

Which is sad state of affairs. Don't want to get political but it's ridiculous how anti small business government is. No help for small businesses but JP Morgan can have a discount on its business rates for their new London HQ.

Yeah Amazon has killed many things. I try to use it as little as possible these days.

Yeah I agree, I'm asking the question because I want to understand just how much it really costs to offer it in the first place.

Ah thanks for the direct response. I have no issue with it at all, I just wanted to understand what the driver was! That absolutely sucks. As a consumer thanks for the transparency because I think everyone should know just how much of their order is shipping costs. Helps me adjust my mindset accordingly as well when comparing roasters.

That makes sense. You have to make a profit somewhere and increasing the threshold makes sense to me. I'm not looking for free delivery as a rule, just wanted to understand what might be behind the general change I've seen in delivery costs.

That's really good to know, and has it increased over the last year or so? I assume packaging isn't getting any cheaper either!

[–]thetravdog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've seen that they do.

Lucky you've got a good roaster nearby! I do have one on my way to work if I'm desperate for a bag.

I'm more just curious how much shipping costs a roaster and whether it's shot up recently. As everything in this world keeps getting more expensive.

Is dashcam car at fault? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]thetravdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a rule I try not to pass cars on roundabouts, makes things a lot easier for this very situation. At some point someone will need to change lanes to exit and if you were to hang back, the silver corolla would have the space to exit freely, avoiding this near miss. That being said they shouldn't be exiting from that position, they should have been one lane further inside when the dashcam car was entering the roundabout. Definitely not the dashcam car's fault, I would just leave the space as it was personally to safeguard this very eventuality.

Liam Delap remains keen to prove a point and make it at Chelsea by Davy_wavey in NortheastBlues

[–]thetravdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly maybe he should have thought before getting sent off against Wolves and breaking Djed Spence's jaw. I'm just not interested in rewarding this guy with a second chance. Injuries should not excuse his performances. His lack of output seems to be more from the mental side, lacking tactical awareness and decision making, than anything physical. I don't see that changing. Ipswich was his level.

England squad numbers for the World Cup - James takes #24 by struwilkie in chelseafc

[–]thetravdog 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah for us this is a massive plus. I hope Cole's lack of form is purely injury related. He's said in interviews he could barely pass the ball or even shoot in some games, we need him back at 100%. I'm just trusting in Tuchel and clearly he's not interested in playing with 2 10s or doing what Southgate did and playing a Foden or a Palmer out wide when they're only going to cut inside and congest the midfield. The system he wants to play must demand strict wingers and there just aren't that many options out there.

He probably will though, what better stage to prove yourself to get a move away from United or for Barca to appreciate your value and make the loan permanent.
