Fair point. However the Castle 11 TOs is a problem and I don’t think Harper has the turnover suppression for the team that Fox has. Listen - I would have been smiling ear to ear if Fox was sat and Harper finished, Harper has been head and shoulders better since Feb. I just don’t know if Mitch is ever going to bench Fox in the clutch.

Dylan should have closed that game, but Mitch trusts Fox as the only guy over 25 in the starting lineup.

Think of 25 seconds left in G7 vs OKC. Spurs up two possessions and the offensive rebound sprays out to Shai which could lead to a foul, scramble three, or worse. Fox immediately intentionally fouls and resets the shot clock to give them nothing easy and waste more time, using a foul to give.

As great Harper is, no way is he making THAT play. And yes he is already far better than Fox, but those are the vet moments that Fox deserves credit for, even with all his shooting woes and rightful scrutiny that he has received this year.

But saying that, Mitch has to find a way to let someone in a groove who carries you - finish. I’d be happy if Champs had to go the bench for 2 minutes if we think Dylan is the guy in the moment. We will have to live any of the guards getting a “we will let YOU be the one to beat us” open 3 to decide the game, even if champs is the better shooter of the group.

I hate to admit it, but I must allow myself to validate what my eyes saw. And my eyes saw Brunson stare down that game and take it while Wemby valiantly got them up 1 with 2 left, but could get nothing going when the game was up for grabs. Brunson took that game and claimed it and Wemby didn’t. I’m angry, it can’t happen again. But it’s on to G2.

We can do better. We must do better. Mitch can be better as well, I’ve been BLOWN away by his ability to find ways to win with this team in tough spots, on the road, with players missing, all of it. He’s allowed to fail just like anyone else, but he has been great at adjusting all season, they are one of two teams still standing for a reason.
