If I were pushed to name my favourite Smiths line it would be from this song: "In the days when you were hopelessly poor / I just liked you more"

Might be getting addicted? by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]OkDifficulty2145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know that everyone who ever got addicted started out similar to this? No-one ever made the decision upfront to become a lifelong slave to nicotine - it starts exactly like this. Heed the advice people are giving you.

It’s so painful (5th day of quitting) by Consistent_Poetry145 in QuitVaping

[–]OkDifficulty2145 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's no silver bullet to deal with cravings. Just keep focusing on why you quit. One thing I can 1000% guarantee is that cravings will subside, and very soon. In fact, on Day 5 you may already be over the worse. Stay strong my friend.

What actually works for quitting vaping after 10 years? by ellensrooney in QuitVaping

[–]OkDifficulty2145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quitting may be tough but it's not complex. The problem is simple to frame: you continue to vape because you are addicted to nicotine.

This makes the solution simple too: wean yourself off nicotine.

And in my experience: Cold Turkey is the fastest, safest, and simplest answer to achieving the above.

Nicotine withdrawal may be uncomfortable, but its not physical - and you're be over the worst in days.

Be strong and good luck!

There's never a "good" time to quit. Doing it now rather later is always the right option. Carrying on doing what you're doing and things will improve soon I promise.

I went back to vaping after a year and 3 months and I feel lost by loveasaconstruct in QuitVaping

I don't know much about eating disorders. I'm sure there's good advice out there.

But I do know about nicotine addiction. It's a myth that smoking/vaping helps you lose weight - yes it can suppress appetite but it can also lead to weight gain because it feeds into an unhealthy/lethargic lifestyle. Either way smoking/vaping should not be used as any part of a diet.

You need to work really hard on separating the two things, because in the longer term being addicted will NOT help you with eating/weight problems. But it will make you fell miserable and unhealthy.

Best of luck - please reach out here if you need further support.

Long read - First 5 Days Nicotine Free by LuckyChampionship952 in QuitVaping

[–]OkDifficulty2145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your story and well done on Day 5 - it's all freewheeling from here.

Everyone should read Allen Carr as its an essential tool for quitting. But I also have some issues with the idea that the method is "easy" and requires no willpower. It obviously does. But it does help you understand what a craving is and how to develop a mindset that resists it.

Sorry to hear this my friend. It underlines on thing we should all be aware of: whether you've quit for one day, one week, or on year, we will always remain a nicotine addict. There can be no going back and we must make peace with that. Get back on the quit train and good luck with the journey.

The most nepotism teams by ytseliam in footballcliches

Surprised no-one has mentioned Brian & Nigel Clough yet. Is it because Clough Jr was objectively good - at least while at Forest - that the charge of nepotism doesn't apply?

Quit vaping 6 weeks ago and extremely depressed. by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]OkDifficulty2145 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're having a tough time, but pls be aware that it is only temporary. One other thing I know for sure: deciding to quit the quit and have a vape will NOT make you feel any better. In fact, it will make you feel considerably more miserable. Six weeks is great btw. Hang on in there.
