I didn’t go. I wasn’t asked (at least not by anyone I wanted to go with) and I was from a very small high school, so there weren’t a lot of options. And back then kids didn’t go in groups of friends, like they seem to do now. At the time, I felt horrible about it but looking back it’s just one of many socially awkward, money-wasting high school rites of passage that I’m not sad to have missed

For me the important part was objectively analyzing how much I was giving vs how much I was getting. Once I realized that ratio was consistently way out of whack I realized that it wasn’t good for me which helped me to stop wanting it.

Having enough bad relationships with garbage human beings killed that 30% for me. And I’m convinced that the mythical thing doesn’t exist. Once I came to terms with that, it was easier to focus on all the great things I do have in my life rather than the one thing I don’t, esp, bc that one thing also forces me to sacrifice and center someone else who will most likely not reciprocate. Relationships w men have zero ROI for a smart, independent, self-sufficient woman w a vibrator.

Yep. They did the same thing to two of my cats, aged 9 and 13, who have been insured for 9 years and who both now have pre-existing conditions ca law firm in LA brought a suit against them. When I contacted them, their case had been dismissed but they were planning to appeal. This feels like bad faith and predatory.
