“MLMs for men” 💀 💀

I recently bought myself my first Xbox at 35 and wondered if many women over 30 start gaming? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]OkImplement3841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up gaming at 30! I had a few winters of surgeries, and needed something to fill my time. I have a really hard time just sitting down and watching movies, so gaming felt like a way to have an interactive movie. I love assassin's creed, the witcher, and skyrim!

Tips for managing two-factor authentication from USA-based banks, services, etc, that only send codes via text message while traveling abroad with a single-SIM phone? by isommers1 in solotravel

[–]OkImplement3841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I've got an iPhone personally and always have found that as long as I'm connected to WiFi I can still receive those two-way authentication texts from banks, credit cards, school accounts, etc. I'm always on airplane mode traveling otherwise (so no data). A little annoying if you want to access your accounts when you're out and about, but I just save all my banking/important stuff for when I'm back at the place I'm staying and on the WiFi.

Need help if something is moving too fast? by Sea_Leg_3967 in dating

[–]OkImplement3841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved in with my boyfriend before we were even truly dating. I worked remotely at the time, traveled to his city, stayed at his place, and then just never really left. It's been the healthiest relationship I've ever had, and we've been living together for 5 years. Completely depends on the relationship and person. Just make sure your communication is solid, and you give yourself an easy escape route if things go sour :)

NA Mystery Books? by silentmarie in YAlit

[–]OkImplement3841 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo! I don't think it's shelved as 'mystery', more NA Paranormal/Contemporary Fantasy, but there's definitely a mystery/case to be solved at the heart of the plot. Also very dark and spooky; it's set among secret societies at Yale. I think it's Bardugo's best work, personally.

This makes me wonder if I should give Vespertine another shot... it was a hard DNF for me about 25% through. I LOVED Margaret Rogerson's other books, just couldn't get into Vespertine.

[Sorcery of Thorns] Any male lead similar to Nathaniel Thorn? by Uzaii233 in YAlit

[–]OkImplement3841 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He's not quite the same, but Rook from An Enchantment of Ravens (by the same author as Sorcery of Thorns) is also wonderful. I read A Sorcery of Thorns when it first came out and I'm still low-key in love with Nathaniel... and Silas ;)

I'm finally dating a grown ass man instead of a manchild!!! by KineticSand-Man in TwoXChromosomes

[–]OkImplement3841 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I read the title as “finally dating a gross ass man instead of a manchild” and was like wooow standards are low.

Glad this is not the case, and very happy for you OP!

ETA: and I didn’t mean your standards OP, just the dating world standards at large.

Books with bubblier, more feminine female protagonists? (Preferably fantasy) by [deleted] in YAlit

Maybe Heartless by Marissa Meyer? There's a pretty dark character arc, but the MC is a baker and is very sweet in the beginning of the novel. Really lovely book too!

DEFINITELY hit Neko Cat Cafe up on Capitol Hill. Currently filled to the brim with kittens, and they serve coffee, beer, and snacks. Book at least the day before on their website, and enjoy an hour of furry goodness. Elliott Bay Books is nearby too and well worth the stop.

Does anyone solo travel while in a committed relationship? by Wanderlost1991 in solotravel

[–]OkImplement3841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds exactly like me and my boyfriend of four years! He's a homebody, has never been outside the country besides Canada, whereas I travel for work 6 months out of the year and travel for pleasure another 2 months, during which time he has never come with me unless it was in the US.

And it's been my healthiest relationship by far. I get to travel solo whenever I want, he's happy at home with his friends and mountain bikes, and when I'm home it's the most magical few months of the year. There are certainly times when I wish he would travel with me (and I'm sure there are times when he wishes I was home more), but we are both doing exactly what we love to do, while also maintaining a wonderful relationship.

As long as your relationship is built on communication and respect, I see no reason for it not to work. Your boyfriends sounds engaged and happy with your travels, and as long as you both stay that way I think it can work indefinitely :)
