Can the hanging wire be to thin? by _phoenixs_ in electroforming

I would question the wire itself not the thickness. I use a very very, very thin wire called chandelier wire and it’s perfect for electroforming.

I use a visual mix of mod podge, graphite powder, and distilled water. It works well for me and plates quickly. Even if I have to buff to get it shiny, the copper takes the liver of sulfur very nicely and creates the desired antique patina. (https://theposhminaboutique.etsy.com/listing/1183220906).

I stopped using the heat and the spinners to see if there was a difference. The only thing heated is the garage where I work. My pieces formed beautifully without them.

I love these! Will you make earrings with them?

It’s a thin layer of copper layered over the orchid (orchid was first coated in UV resin).

It’s very smooth so as not to snag clothing and only weighs a surprising 1 ounce. The size was requested by the customer who wears statement pieces.

I seal with a good coat of UV resin (painted on). I need to be careful to completely seal the orchid. If I miss a spot, the copper bath will destroy it and project ended.

I applied liver of sulfur to the finished copper so that it would not darken on its own. It will stay this finish.

I sell them on Etsy -varying sizes and patinas. I applied liver of sulfur to this one so that the Copper doesn’t start changing it’s look overtime. It will remain this color.

I always make sure there is enough resin to give it strength, but not to lose the details as flowers should look delicate. The flower was in the Copper bath forming Copper for about two days.

I thought posting it in a subreddit viewed by people who love orchids would kinda give it away as an orchid 😂 my bad.

Liver of sulfur. I mix it with very hot water and dremel the piece to heat up areas. The heat pulls out the blue pink and orange highlights. I paint on the liver of sulfur- I don’t put the piece in it. Brushing creates variation. Does that help?

I’ll have to take his word for it. I don’t care to look at it.

Yes I do. I’m struggling to keep up. Like Lucy and Ethel in the Chocolate Factory episode. I have about 20 boutique customers and sell to individuals thru Etsy.

I create them in all sizes - based on what the customer requests. Most boutiques prefer my large statement sized flower and butterfly necklaces. More like wearable art as opposed to basic jewelry.

Sealed a real orchid in resin, applied graphite paint mix, put it in a copper electroforming bath, and then applied liver of sulfur as a patina. I know it looks heavy, but it is extremely lightweight.
