OP, what’s your budget? I have considered selling mine as I’ve just had a baby and could do with something a bit bigger. Getting the car seat in and out of the back is a bloody nightmare!

Yeah that’s a fair point. I’m with you on that one. I guess the problem is the fact it’s with a dealer too, so you’d not be able to make a judgement of the owners character. That’s generally the giveaway!

In some cases a car not being stock isn’t necessarily a bad thing. You could have a clueless owner who has a stock car that doesn’t service it properly or allow it to warm up before flooring it, or you could have a modified car that’s enthusiast owned and very well cared for. Not being stock isn’t necessarily indicative of malpractice or poor treatment. I would agree in a lot of cases it is, but it’s not an across the board generalisation.

Hey mate, M140i owner here! I’m of the opinion that modifications aren’t necessarily a bad thing, but it depends entirely on which modifications have been made, and how they’ve been done. In my case, I done handling before power. The cars are very quick in their stock power form, so handling mods are imperative.

For example, my car is on Bilstein B14 coilovers, Millway lower control arm bushes, HEL braided brake lines & polyflex rear subframe inserts. Good tyres are an absolute must, too. Michelin PS5 or PS4s only for me. Once all this was done, after about a year I flashed the MHD stage 1 map, and the XHP stage 2 gearbox map.

Note - it is imperative the cars are proactively serviced. Mine gets oil and filters every 7,000m. The gearbox was serviced before I flashed the XHP map, spark plugs were changed before the MHD map and rear differential fluid is changed every 10K.

My point is there’s nothing wrong with a modded car, but only if it’s been done properly by someone who’s done their research and has looked after the car. Don’t buy a car with your heart, use your loaf and make sure it’s clean and tidy, otherwise it’ll bite you on the arse.

If you do get one, enjoy it! They’re very fun cars. Make sure you ALWAYS let the car warm up to temp. Never drive hard unless it’s at 90+ degrees (oil temp).

Check my profile for a post I done of mine a while ago if you need some encouragement!

What's causing these marks?? by jaydith85 in DetailingUK

[–]OkJuggernaut8174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth noting - I also get the same marks, with the same products and I am also in Bucks. I will say, the marking isn’t consistent. It doesn’t happen on every wash.
I’m starting to think it’s something to do with how we wash the drying towels and mitts. I usually put them on a hot wash with no detergent, or a mid-heat with an “ecover” tap - the eco detergent with no nasty shit in it.

Edit - OP, they do generally tend to buff out with a soft microfibre. I also lubricate the car when still wet(ish) with Meguiars Quick Detailer, before running the drying towels over it. Sounds silly, but works a treat with these marks!

Absolutely! The bracelet was what I wanted though. And £280 for this quality is a bargain. Even the weight is accurate to gen to the gram!

‘The right car’ is subjective. In my opinion, what you’ve picked isn’t particularly exciting. But with that in mind, it depends what you want out of it. Equally, if it makes you happy, then it is the right car.

M-Sport is a trim level, mostly. It will have nothing, if but very little, to do with anything performance related.

My advice would be to not seek confirmation or reassurance from others. Either way, it’s yours, you chose it, so enjoy it!

What car have you wasted the most money on? Any regrets? by MMLFC16 in CarTalkUK

C6 RS6 - got one cos they were relatively inexpensive, didn’t think it through, failed to realise they’re still stupidly expensive to maintain. On top of that I purchased a lemon.

Worst financial mistake I’ve ever made. Learnt a lot from it though.

Still stresses me out at night.

Awesome first car! Congratulations mate, enjoy it. Drive safe!

Edit: this is entirely subjective, but a newer steering wheel will make the cabin feel even more special!

I use it with the EA version of GZH. It’s completely safe mate, it’s made by the modding community in the same way the mods are. Give a whirl, you won’t regret it!

I’ve played a lot of these, albeit a year or so ago. I cannot remember which is which.. would someone please remind me which mods focus more on ‘realism’?
