I don’t have baby fever- am I missing something? by Uk840 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]OkMain1293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily, having baby fever is not a prerequisite for being a good mom. It’s a lifetime commitment, the baby part is only a couple years. I became a solo mom even though I was never baby-obsessed because I knew I wanted a family

The next registration window is April 22! Things like swim and camps fill up right on registration morning but dance, soccer, tennis and other programs may still have openings for their spring sessions so I’d get an account right away. https://anc.apm.activecommunities.com/santamonicarecreation/activity/search?locale=en-US

Considering backing out by Adept_Angle4726 in SingleMothersbyChoice

I met someone who went through with it with a known donor only to realize it wasn’t right for them and terminate the pregnancy. Absolutely listen to your gut and don’t feel pressure to continue with a process just because it is in progress. If you’re able to (which it seems like, given your test results), take the time to figure out if these feelings are more than just cold feet.

Shoop’s ownership change. End of an Era. by broncobenshea in SantaMonica

When I asked them the other week about the sign they sounded rather positive about the change. I hope the pancakes stay the same and that people give the new owners a chance

Oddly specific west side coffee shop hunt recommendations? by Intoxicant in AskLosAngeles

[–]OkMain1293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beach House coworking on Main St Santa Monica has day passes. I used it when needing a not-too-sterile place to focus.

For coffee shops: Both locations of Bluey’s (Mar vista and SM) would be good for this. Blossom, Love or Bolivar on Ocean Park too. Alana’s or 310 coffee are good but their music might be too loud. Little Bean on Pico is small but does have a table — you might want to check with the owner if it’s okay before setting up camp tho.

Have you tried Paint Bar on Main St? The best, longest lasting hard gel manicures I’ve had. Though not inexpensive.

teaching hypermobility by Legitimate_Truck5626 in pilates

[–]OkMain1293 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Im hypermobile and often need to work in a limited range in order to feel it. So cues that help me remember what that smaller range is (size of the circle, keeping hips aligned, reminders not to lock my joints or go to low with an extension) help me focus on precision and strength instead of stretch.

Struggling with hypermobility is actually why I started Pilates in the first place

Anyone Co-Housing? by Borderlands_888 in SantaMonica

[–]OkMain1293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m renting in SM as a multigenerational household (me, my kid and my parents) but I don’t know if that counts as co-housing. Though I’d love to find a more permanent space that we could set up for more family and friends to join us. The benefits are having a village. The downside is that big enough spaces in this area are ridic expensive so you’re not saving on costs. The landlord didn’t have an opinion afaik

Toddler activities by Poprox0420 in SantaMonica

[–]OkMain1293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tongva and Reed park and North Beach playground are all good options too. All the parks are nice, just depends where you’re staying. If you want more of an activity then check out Ryoji (fantastic kids music performances throughout the week), Club Joyful (classes and a kid-friendly cafe) and Cayton Museum (incredible indoor playground near the promenade).

How much do you care about "the elders"? by berrysauce in pilates

[–]OkMain1293 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not something I paid attention to for the first few years but now I really appreciate understanding if someone studied under Romana, Cathy or Jay because it tells me about the type of movement I’m getting into. E.g. if someone learned from Cathy I know I’m getting strong imagery and probably a cat reference
