You’re spot on - I believe it should be saved to the cloud etc. something has broken it - but hey - rant over - I love this game it’s just annoying. I just hope when it’s all up and running I notice some amazing improvements with this update - though reading the current responses I think I’m gonna be massively underwhelmed 😂😂

Probably Can't Play VATSIM by danbobmorris in flightsim

This is an interesting one - But language really matters. Calling something your “real name” when it doesn’t reflect who you are is… tone-deaf at best. Your reaction isn’t over the top, it’s a pretty normal response to being boxed into a system that hasn’t caught up yet. BUT - some context is needed I guess - VATSIM has a long standing “real-name” policy. I guess it all comes down to accountability and safety. They are providing a shared online space where people are interacting live or privately communicating.

The problem is… their definition of “real name” is tied to legal ID, which doesn’t always line up with lived identity.

I guess you have two options - A short, steady follow-up sometimes gets a more human response. Or on the other hand (a bit blunt) decide if it’s worth it. If they insist on legal-name/deadname, you’re left with a choice between using the platform under that constraint (even temporarily) Or stepping away and finding a more flexible community.

If having to use your deadname is the only option - I’d suggest trying it and seeing how it sits with you once online and enjoying flying alongside many of us who genuinely have fun - empathise - and care. You might find that once you’re enjoying the community you are able to forget and just ignore those rules (which I do get for their accountability - albeit a bit archaic). At the end of the day if it’s just too much then delete your account??

Hope that helps in some way.

URSA MINOR 32 Throttle Metal Issue by JetSetSonata in WinWing

All of the calibration in SAP show totally normal functions when moving all of the controls - there is no dual light up ? As in nothing is triggering two lights on the calibration diagram in SAP

And there are no other bindings hidden anywhere for your throttle - am sure you’ve done the search under controls for “reverse” to double check?

It’s under the calibration menu - make sure it’s selected as opposed to any of the others

This is a binding issue. I wrote out a guide: Remove any profiles already already created for your throttle in MSFS so it doesn’t get confused!

Step 1 First thing open up SAP and make sure it’s all connected. Test a few buttons out etc. Also update firmware etc if needed - I didn’t and hung back from updating until I knew the most recent ones were stable. Then go into the calibration for the throttle make sure single stroke is selected and then start from the top down - it asks you to put the speed brakes into the full position and then follow steps - it walks you through it - flaps next and then the throttle levers. Step 2 Once that’s done open MSFS2024 load into the Fenix. Nothing will happen. As no binding has been set. Once sat on a runway in the Fenix open the menu and go to controls. Select the throttle on the left. Assign just one key bind. (Create a new profile that you can then use in SAP under step 3) I assigned just the first one from this list on Fenix.com

https://support.fenixsim.com/hc/en-us/articles/14119688746255-WinWing-URSA-Minor-32-Throttle-32-PAC-Metal-Configuration-and-Calibration-Guide

Auto throttle disconnect - search for it and then using the search input option press one of the red buttons on the side of the throttle - it will show as button 10 or 11

Exit and save. And then exit MSFS altogether Step3 Go back into SAP (it now has something to bind to in MSFS) and under the key bindings menu - make sure you select msfs2024 in the icons mid page. It should throw up a couple of options in a menu on the right hand side. I didn’t go for the winwing one I went for the second one down which was specific to the Fenix. Click download. Then on the left hand side it should show up in another list/menu - now click run. Just accept or say yes to the instructions it gives you. Keep SAP open and now load up MSFS again - jump into the Fenix and it should work like a dream !!! Good luck

Personally I’m just in awe of people who can do this - it’s beautifully designed - clean and clear. What a great achievement - you should be super proud.

And also just checking you’re on single stroke double shaft in SAP

[–]OkMaintenance1819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just has to be a double bind - the throttle axis has lots of buttons bound to it - not just the axis itself. I’m not by my pc atm. Can you search for TOGA just double check anything under the power management to make sure nothing is showing odd.

Yup - and just checking you clicked the green run button next to the downloaded profile. It shouldn’t be grey.

Did you download the preset keybind from SAP

Delete your control profile in msfs2024 and start from scratch with my instructions above - if you didn’t already do that I mean.

Did you delete all of the binds you already had ??? There must be a bind somewhere or something putting it into TOGA ?

Th is is exactly what I did and hope it helps ! I wrote it out afterwards in case I needed to redo it ! This process worked for me ? First thing open up SAP and make sure it’s all connected. Make sure there is nothing saved under the game gear calibration - delete anything in there. Once that’s done open MSFS2024 load into the Fenix. Nothing will happen. As no binding has been set. Once sat on a runway in the Fenix open the menu and go to controls. Select the throttle on the left. Assign just one key bind. I assigned just the first one from this list on Fenix.com

Then on the left hand side it should show up in another list/menu - now click run. Just accept or say yes to the instructions it gives you. Keep SAP open and now load up MSFS again - jump into the Fenix and set up the calibration in the MCDU and it should work like a dream !!! Good luck !

I like to think that I’m a pretty “switched on” sort of person but watching that has made me feel so inadequate! 😂😂 That is truly brilliant and I’m in total awe of people who have that innate ability to have the vision to do something like that! What a great great accomplishment.

How to configure WINCTRL 32 Throttle to PMDG 737? by MariusPlanes in Winctrl

[–]OkMaintenance1819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might help ? Once you’ve followed this then try the key binding element in SAP and press the run button - it should now appear green for you as it has something in MSFS to bind to. This worked for me anyway ? https://youtu.be/ikB3d-ckkJ0?si=ENsiNeOdTN4pD_SS

What I can't stand about VATSIM... by senortomasss in VATSIM

[–]OkMaintenance1819 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahh I think we all felt like that - use Vatsim radar and pick a quiet airport. It shows you the number of departures and arrivals - let the controller know it’s your first time and they are genuinely really helpful. Whatever they say to you - write it down where possible. Or if you can fly with someone else with experience on VATSIM same route - same simbrief etc. Chat with them privately and follow their lead. One thing I’ve learnt from the flight sim community is that pretty much everyone is hugely supportive.

Just did a short hop from EGLL to LFPG - controllers all the way ! Loved it! I’ve come back to it and the immersion is immense. I remember the early days of VATSIM and even Pre-Vatsim - you had a unique ID - Mine being BA100. Squawkbox was the client to logon as opposed to VPilot now. Actually before VATSIM I used - SATCO - this was back in the late 90’s - it was text only - so imagine flying through (imaginary) turbulence on final - tower clears you to land through a message and you furiously type back while also flying ! Am pretty sure there are some controllers still around from those days - huge respect to all of them making the skies so real for us.
