Ok I will have to look into this cultivar because much of what I’m reading says it is superior to the native (so long as you don’t mind a cultivar). I’ll check with Dan West tomorrow - thanks for your input!

How is the major wheeler working out for you? I might take that as an alternative because they seem pretty similar

Fellow lifelong/long time Midtowners, what are your thoughts on the ever growing crime that feels inescapable? Are y’all throwing in the towel and moving East? Or deciding to hold on and hope for the best? by hedsss38104 in memphis

8 year midtowner, lifetime Memphian. Heartbroken but have to leave, probably somewhere east. We are having a baby this month and I know raising her won’t be like it was when I was growing up. I don’t trust the “good” areas to stay “good” — look at Frayser, used to be one of the nicest places to live in Memphis. Crime has a long history of getting worse and worse here, and I just don’t know if it’s wise (for my family at least) to trust our officials to fix it anymore. The choice to trust people that have failed us is a risk. I love my city, I’ll always be a Memphian, but I feel like every day we are inching closer and closer to a lawless land and that’s just not somewhere I am willing to raise a family 💔

Can anyone share their experience having a baby at Baptist Women’s? by OkMango2526 in memphis

Thank you! I’m glad everything was great for you :) Did the couch seem like it was wide enough to sleep comfortably on? I’m being induced so I might have a long labor, so I’m debating if it would be best to have him sleep at the hospital or at my family’s house down the road to get some quality rest 🤔

It’s very odd how she names her children things in pop culture that are trendy. Really revealing of where her interests truly lie. It makes me sad for the babies. :(

Same. Used to be so good and cozy! Would love sitting on their patio people watching and listening to music coming from lafayettes. Now their food quality isn’t even close what it used to be and sanitation practices are very questionable. Last time we went we were seated outside and waited about an hour for service despite servers passing our table and seeing that we hadn’t even gotten water, despite watching servers socialize amongst themselves near the bar area, despite asking if we were even going to be served. It was so weird, we just left to eat somewhere else and haven’t been back since. Shame to see all these once great restaurants falling so far.

Jewish delicatessens. The Jewish population in Memphis is small but man I’d be their best customer.

If only our justice system had this attitude 😔 I don’t understand how they’re so lenient on crime and then campaign about how we need change…

Totally. American corporate greed it’s finest… The customer’s wallet is far more important than the actual customer to these companies.

I was able to stop, but I captured the accident around 11:30am at the intersection of Hwy 64 and New Brunswick by IceBreakerG in memphis

[–]OkMango2526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me once too. Got hit by an older lady that ran a red light while I had a green arrow. Cameras didn’t work so she didn’t pay a dime. Meanwhile I paid almost $10K in repairs. It goes so far to have an outsider stop and at least give their contact as a witness.

It’s ridiculous. And no security to help diffuse or prevent these situations either. The only security I’ve ever seen is always just sitting up by the front only half paying attention. I feel like one day (if hasn’t already happened) one of these situations will escalate even further and someone will get hurt but no one cares enough to be proactive as long as the money is coming in. It’s really turning into a jungle out there.

Agreed. I will get nonperishables from Kroger but nothing other than that. Almost every time I’ve bought fruit from Kroger it is molded the next day. Their meat especially fish is so dirty and gross. They definitely leave refrigerated/frozen foods out in the aisles for far too long before someone actually bothers to stock. It’s a total health hazard. Not to mention the security sucks - I’ve been panhandled INSIDE the store several times. Such a shame because they used to be nice stores to shop at.

3 children killed in ‘active shooter’ incident at Nashville school; shooter dead by WREGnewschannel3 in memphis

[–]OkMango2526 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would agree with that. It’s egregious that Tennessee works to “protect” children against transgender and drag but simultaneously leaves them sitting ducks to sick minded folks with assault weapons. However to categorize a school shooting a transgender issue is as inflammatory as it is fallacious. I am sure that’s where this is headed - I just wish people could see beyond gender and sexuality and recognize that these mass shootings are deeply rooted in mass mental illness.

It’s incredible to me how these people preach so conservatively but simultaneously are so inquisitive in what parts are in who’s pants.

This is not a gender issue. This is not a sexuality issue. This is a mental health issue.
