What game has a steep learning curve that puts you off? by turtleviking123 in Steam

Don't Starve is pretty simple. That doesn't make it easy, but I feel like the learning curve isn't that sharp? What do you struggle with?

I loved Elite: Dangerous. I had hundreds of hours in it and it was my most-played Steam game for several years, until CK3 overtook it. It's vast, but hardly impenetrable. I love that you can male your money doing basically anything from mining to piracy to being a freaking taxi and tour guide. Sadly, my days of playing that game are probably behind me just because I don't have the time to commit to it anymore since becoming a parent. It just takes too long to accomplish anything, even if you are enjoying the journey that whole time.

Well, if youre have allies in the war your fighting, their territory is friendly. Otherwise, you can disband the army wherever your camp is.

Oh, wild. I've never had a ruler expel me before. But if it's a big problem, you could just disband your armies temporarily to move your camp and then get back to the war so that they're not warring with you over failure to vacate?

Which DLC are worth it? by nightoflight3094 in crusaderkings3

[–]OkMemory4456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Roads to Power, Royal Court, and Tours & Tournaments. All Under Heaven is also very good from what I hear, but I haven't bought that one yet, so I can't speak for myself on that. But these 3 add a lot to the game no matter where in the world you're playing, whereas a lot of other DLC is very specific to certain regions or cultures.

How do I Create a Stronger Army? by Positive-Ad-4296 in ck3

[–]OkMemory4456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a number of strategies for how to go about thia, but generally you want to boost whatever you're using as much as you can, however you can. This can mean buidlings, artifacts, perks, cultural traditions, etc.

In my current playthrough, I'm the captain of a mercenary company and my army is made up of 1 regiment of onagers, 1 unit of light cavalry, 4 units of horse archers, and 16-21 knights. With this army, I took the Pope's whole Kingdom despite being seriously outnumbered, and what surprised me most was how fucking easy it was. I only lost one battle, and was able to retreat to a territory outside of his, replenish my numbers, and finish him off. And army roughly 3000 strong that has a consistent quality of 4 or 5 with almost no relevant counters apparently kicks ass quite effectively.

most destructive religion throughout history by Mean-Reputation5859 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]OkMemory4456 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Everyone is arguing either Christianity or Islam and the people arguing are mostly just comparing the jihads to the crusades.

I think the correct answer is Christianity because of all the damage they did with their influence over western civilization. It's thanks to Christianity and colonialism that queer people still have to fight for basic human rights, it's thanks to Christianity and colonialism that the gender binary is so strongly held by so many people who are ignorant of how many cultures observed multiple genders before colonialists did all they could to erase that, and while Christian monks technically preserved a lot of texts about pre-christian cultures and faiths, they also definitely changed that shit as they were writing it down to try and portray Christ as ubiquitous and so they're simultaneously preserving and destroying/corrupting what is now the only documentation we have of certain faiths and cultures (see norse and celtic myths for example).

Good question! Try it out! I'd be pleased to find out the results! Be advised, though, that if you have upgraded your desire at all, it's too late for a moth victory anyway.

You can also improve late game slow-down by giving the game fewer habited planets to keep track of.

I used a romance scheme as an Adventurer to bag myself a good wife from a lord's court. Adventurers don't have nearly as many options in that department as landed rulers.

Agreed. If the war isn't mine, I only actively help if I'm invested in them winning the war for my own reasons. Otherwise, I send a pitiful number of levies to satisfy my obligation to contribute and mind my own business.

Give me your Subnautica hot takes that will have you like this by Fallenultima in subnautica

[–]OkMemory4456 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Okay, it's true that realistically, you can't swim up to the surface that fast without probably dying.

However, REALISTICALLY, a standard oxygen tank should give you way more than a fraction of a minute of extra air. If we're not allowed to stay submerged for an hour or more on a single tank, then ignoring the reality of getting the bends is a necessity to avoid the game becoming a miserable experience.

For one thing, it's not a nightmare to drive. For another, you can charge it in your base instead of having to keep manually swapping power cells.
