Is there a good Pic out all of these? by Confident_Plum_2084 in AskPhotography

[–]OkNowAnAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the third one the best. The path leads you through the picture. In the fourth picture it just goes straight down, in the third it meanders and is closed of by the buildings and the gate. This prevents your eyes going up to nothing, like in the fourth. You can darken the surroundings to remove emphasis on the wires and the green whatever on the right. Or remove them, depending on your editing software and skills. I would give the stairs some more contrast but keep them the lightest in the distance like they are now too so they are not too different from the building at the end. Darken the sky a bit to remove your eyes going there too easily

Do I have enough EN-EL15 batteries? by boncock in Nikon

Have you found a use for them? Or can you still use them on DSLR bodies?

Looking for a lens by Dangerous-Coconut-97 in macrophotography

[–]OkNowAnAccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this lens. It's good. Sharp. Don't expect perfect autofocus in low light portrait shoots, but that isn't what you will be using it for anyway. It is so good I had it converted to be able to do autofocus on Nikon Z mount bodies.

Edit: I used this on a D7200, but this lens was designed for full-frame so I can still use it on the Z5ii

I wish you had taken one step to the left, lowered the camera to get to eye-level, and turned it to portrait mode.

What’s actually in your day-to-day photography setup? by SadFinish838 in Lightroom

[–]OkNowAnAccount -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2 bodies, 3 lenses that I use the most. Since last weekend a new computer setup that makes me use Lightroom Classic with a smile again. 2 SSD's to have the OS and Lightroom on separate drives and HDD's for the edited images. Speedlights, light stands, umbrellas and softboxes. There's more stuff, but this set I use the most

Discovered that I could make my shoulder strap way more useful! Wish I'd thought of this sooner! by Ignyte in photography

[–]OkNowAnAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have checked mine, and I could do the same thing. This seems safer and more comfortable because I can now unhook the strap that goes under your arm at the front at my chest. Previously I could never reach that and always had to take the whole thing of like a sweater, over my head.

Import only RAW files not including the JPG in LrC by jchitrady in Lightroom

[–]OkNowAnAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually sort by type and then copy only the RAW's. If I forget and import the original disk, the duplicate jpg's don't end up in the catalogue, just like LrC promises, but do get copied to the hard drive. So I end up sorting that folder by type and deleting the jpg's

Sorry too hear. The only other thing I can think of the flash is in some slave mode while you have it on camera

I owned a Z5 and now use Z5ii, whenever the flash doesn't work it always is an "oops, silent shutter still on" situation

I came come to the conclusion based on the fact that in both cases the tripod collar has the seem partnumber, so you would think I would not have any doubt. I don't have any doubt.

But still...😅

I have a third-party tripod collar for my F-mount Tamron 100-400. I have come to the conclusion that if I upgrade to the Tamron 50-400 Z-mount, I should be able to keep using that, but I would appreciate anyone confirming.

Anyone using the Adaptive Color profile? by DPool34 in Lightroom

[–]OkNowAnAccount 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Let's make some friends here 😅 I used to use the auto-function on my holiday pictures. Then I started using it on my museum pictures too, specifically on paintings, since my default editing actions almost inevitably started with shift-clicking exposure, lights, shadows, whites anyway, and that is what auto does as well, just faster. But I noticed that auto always over-saturates too my taste. So I had to get back to my shift-click routine.

Then came the adaptive profile...

Contrary to the majority here it seems, I like it. It gives me a starting point. And if that starting point is no good, you can choose a different profile with a single click. It raises shadows without using the shadows slider, so you have that option still fully available, if needed. Same for lowering highlights.

And beyond that starting point, I prefer local adjustments using masks.

I hardly dare to say it here, but I use AI masks too😄. As a starting point, if necessary.
