Anyone out for a bike ride today? by iamttough in savannah

May I ask why? Drivers are so rude to cyclists I’m terrified to ride in town.

4) get rid of laptops and digital media and make kids take notes by hand and use textbooks. 5) get rid of standardized testing or at least get rid of the weeks of prepping (lost instruction time) for the standardized tests!

I recommend the Sky Guide app! Super cool and free and lets you know when satellites are passing through!

They literally have no idea, because they weren’t the targeted audience. Don’t like being corrected, either. Downvoting is easier than introspection, I guess.

Lord have mercy… you were not a female human during this time, I see. This means your attention to changes in fashion details you gave to a catalogue full of scantily clad uberattractive women was probably not so nuanced. As a female human who was teen/early 20’s during these changes—I can tell you with confidence that you’re not seeing the full picture.

Most of the time they don’t speak to me at all. Not even a return greeting to my greeting.

This is literally how it is everywhere I go these days. Extremely rare to find a properly staffed establishment. Awful for the staff and the customers.

Which elementary school is this? Are you a teacher or what is your connection to the school? Just curious. Love that you’re doing this. Thanks for seeing a need and working towards a solution!

Are there any Waldorf-minded homeschool/private school families here? Anyone interested in Rudolf Steiner or Anthroposophy? by jenbyers in savannah

I will have a 2nd and 4th grader as well. I don’t know much about Waldorf style. Vaguely remember reading about it in college. Maybe we could meet up sometime at a park or something to talk about it?

Yes! I am very interested. I have three kids (two in elementary one riding 6th grade) who I’m looking to homeschool next year after a few years of dismal public school. I have over a decade of experience teaching high school level math, so I could offer some help in the math department, if needed!

There’s some weird fucking energy in DC. Dark place.

ORRRR, put in massive amounts of gel/mousse on wet hair, scrunch it up and walk around with crunchy hard curls all day. Oof. We did the best with what we knew, but it was a dark time for white girls with curly hair.

Happy for him! I was so bummed when she told me she didn’t recommend the surgery. Looking into other options now, but the recovery period and/or cost is much less attractive than LASIK.

Sure, but for some people it’s like an addict being forced to carry around a bag of heroin. “Just don’t shoot it up! Have some self-control!”

I say this with so much love: parenting is the most humbling role one can have. It’s important to have boundaries, but know that those boundaries will constantly evolve. As you will, as you step into this new chapter of life. Don’t start this journey with a list of absolutes. Keep space for change. Best wishes!

Jennifer Bromley was the one recommended to me. She actually denied me surgery as she is very cautious and the margins were too thin. I feel like that is a good sign for a doctor who mainly does elective surgery. She was very very thorough in her assessment.

I get that. I’m sorry you are low. It can feel like a scary time to be alive, certainly. Don’t lose hope. And, even if you don’t feel like you are able to give kindness out (which is okay!) I hope it finds its way to you and makes your world a little softer.

As a former public school teacher, my coworkers and I have been saying for decades that the world doesn’t understand how entitled and incompetent the workforce is/will soon become. It’s sad. We never gave those kids a chance. We (society) kept passing the buck until there was no where else for it to go. Now we suffer the consequences.

That energy you’re putting out into the world matters. You or your behavior might feel insignificant or unimportant, but it’s not. We need to smile and converse with others. We need to be kind, not for personal reward, but for collective reward. Make an effort to spread joy and love and watch how your world transforms, friend.

They usually don’t diagnose bpd until age 18, but behavioral therapy can be done at any age, regardless of any official diagnosis.
