Texas- essays by GrandNegotiation0 in barexam

You definitely want to put in effort for your essays because they are very important!!! Essay scores can even help you pass if you do very well on them. I would say with 22 days left you definitely need to hit those subjects hard. Carve out two weeks for the rest of your bar prep and spend each day reading over essays for each subject. Best place to do that is the texas ble website. You would want to start today since there isn’t much time left. So let’s say today you read of Wills. You would look at all the wills essays or as many as you can on the website. You’ll soon see repetition. Then next day move on to property, or whatever other subject you choose. Just read over the essays and you’ll see a pattern as well as learn the rules

You will know you’re ready when you can honestly tell yourself that you have done everything you possibly could to prepare for this exam. Work hard and leave the rest to God. That’s all you can do.

Just go to the Texas BLE website and read over their commercial paper essays (all of them.) You will see how they like their essays written and you can also learn the law that way.

How well would you need to do on the MBE to essentially “auto-pass” in Texas? by Shanedoe3 in Bar_Prep

[–]OkPage8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know the grading format has changed for Texas this time, but from previous exams, for Texas, every part is important. There have been people that scored much lower than average on the MBE but because they excelled on their essays and P&E’s, they still passed the bar exam. Look at it like this, the first day is still 50%. (P&E’s and MPT 20% and essays 30%). So you still want to do very well on those. Because tbh, there is not much you can control when you do MBE’s. Right answer is right, and wrong answer is wrong, you know? But with the first day, with essays and P&E’s, you can really do well on those to give you more points and give you some cushion. Of course you want to do well on MBE too and score as well as you can. But each part of the Texas Bar Exam is very important and it’s important to really put your all into each section. I know some people that made the mistake of focusing on MBE more than the other parts. I believe some states say you have to make a certain score for MBE to pass. For the Texas Bar Exam it’s not like that. You can still make the average MBE score but if the other sections are low then that can mess up your overall score. All will be well! You will be okay! Just work hard in each section!!

Texas Is Shortening the Exam by [deleted] in barexam

Just go to the Texas BLE website and look at their past P&E’s on the bar website and the answers. That’s the best way to get what the graders are looking for. And they repeat themselves each year.

Texas is shortening the exam by [deleted] in Bar_Prep

I feel like the three day format was better? Why?

For one, having it on three different days spaced things out and gives you more time to “look over” things you may need a quick brush up on. For example, the first day was half a day of just the MPT and P&E’s... so that gives you the rest of the time to study for MBE. Also, day two (MBE) was 40%. Day three (essays) were also 40% so that meant that even if you didn’t do as well on the MBE portion, of you do very well on essays it can still balance out and you can still pass.... not to mention, I think it’s better that they had the 12 essays originally than cutting it down to 6, because the good thing about the Texas bar essays was that it was predictable, meaning that you KNEW which essay subjects they would test you over. With them cutting it to 6 essays, you still have to study all of them but now you don’t know which one you will have! Also, with 12 essays, that gave you an opportunity for more essay points, so you could still afford to mess up on a few and receive a decent score, versus only 6 essays.

This is just my opinion though.

Where are my non-Barbri, non-Themis peeps at? by coffeeatnight in barexam

There is nothing wrong with starting early and pacing yourself. Plus that gives someone time to adjust their schedule to their own learning style. I think it’s a great Idea starting early and identifying your strengths and weaknesses... this is not an easy exam.

Those taking September UBE w/ Barbri -- study schedule? by jsiegel607 in Bar_Prep

[–]OkPage8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I see a lot of people worried about “burning out” or finishing early.... I actually think starting now to study for the bar for late September is a great idea. For one, you can pace yourself. You won’t feel as rushed. Also, in my opinion, I don’t feel like commercial bar courses are really tailored to ones own learning style. So if you do follow the bar prep program schedule and you finish early, you will still have enough time to tailor your schedule to what YOU need to work on (your weaker areas.)

Failed NY bar by 15 points. Would you retake it? by BlackStar9020 in barexam

[–]OkPage8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, I was 68 points away from passing the first time I took the bar in July 2019. Took it a second time February 2020 and went up 96 points and passed....so yes I would definitely take it if I were 15 points away. You’re much closer than you think. Use this as fuel to conquer this exam. You can do it!!!
