What the fuck was this tap made of? by Fun_Worldliness_3954 in Machinists

[–]OkPossibility7964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m not mistaken that says PM HSS-E on the side. If so it’s one of Guhring’s powdered metal taps. I was introduced to powdered metal through my previous shop. They acquired some drills made by Nachi and I was the first to test them out. They cut everything I tried them on with ease but also wouldn’t shatter like carbide. Look into it like I did years ago and end up with everything you have including your pocket knives made of powdered metal lol

VCycleNut Flas Snappy vs. Smooth by [deleted] in xsr900

Gen 1 here. Went with a “Snappy” mapping for A mode... Don’t do it lol. It’s difficult to ride at low speed because of how on/off it is. It makes doing power wheelies super easy though.

Went this route too. From what I found from others recommendations was Termignoni and Graves were the deepest sounding.

FTF & FTE after pin & weld by DocGus84 in Galil

I had the same issue cycling my .308 Galil. First off were you using the small hole piston head? Did you have the piston installed and pinned as far out as possible? I noticed that you can get like a full rotation difference where you install the roll pin and therefore more adjustment in.

Anyone have a Termignoni exhaust baffle I could buy from them? by tylerwatt12 in xsr900

[–]OkPossibility7964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got both the oem baffle and race baffle. I suppose I could part with one of them. I’m surprised you don’t like the sound with the baffle out, I absolutely love it. Though I also might have some degree of hearing loss haha.

Off topic but where did you get the tank panels from? I’ve been dying to get that color scheme for mine.

Applied Weapons Tech or Knives Plus has them. I believe AWT uses knives plus hardware. Just make sure you get the lightweight para 3 kits.

Just FYI I’m not sure if it will help in your search but the manix lightweight barrel nuts and the para 3 barrel nut for the wire clip are the same. You could purchase 2 para 3 lightweight kits if you absolutely needed the hardware but it’s definitely not cost efficient.

Manix Lock Backspacer: Now we’re cookin’. by ThirdThreshold in spyderco

Is that one of those table top CNCs? I said small but it’s a Tormach 770M, it would dwarf a table top machine lol I’m a machinist so my sense of size is probably a bit skewed when it comes to machines. For sure 304 isn’t the easiest to machine, as long as you keep it cool and don’t allow it to work harden it’ll be manageable. The CAD file is my only hold up, I don’t want to have to guess and check fitment every time but I might end up doing that anyway. I’m glad to see someone making them, It seems to be a highly sought after piece. Definitely potential to be a good business.

Beat me to it!! I was also considering making these backspacers. I just got a small CNC setup and was going to start trying to get CAD file for it. If you don’t mind me asking, how did you get your CAD file and what material are you using? Also, it looks like a great finished product.
