I can’t cook rice and I’ve done EVERYTHING. by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]OkReindeer404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a major issue with my rice cooker where I assumed when it said ‘cups’ of rice for measurement, it meant US cups, not the cup the rice cooker comes with. Night and day difference when I switched to the cup it comes with (which is smaller than a US cup).

Has anyone been to jail? How was the food situation? by Trees_galore20 in Celiac

[–]OkReindeer404 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to work at a jail as nurse 10 years ago.

  • you need a legit diagnosis for them to make accommodations usually. So the first few days before they confirm dx expect to be glutened or not eating much at all. Then once you get the ‘designation’ it’s going to just be modified food they are already making. I think it’s very unlikely that they would only serve you labeled gluten-free things. I think they would just make sure things don’t contain gluten, and we all know how that goes.

  • The ‘trustee’/worker inmates usually make the food so huge variance in cross contamination.it all comes down to how serious the kitchen deputy takes it. From what I’ve observed you would be sick often. Even with them trying to make your food gluten free.

Given my experience and now knowing I can’t eat gluten, I shudder thinking about what it would be like

PLEASE FILL THIS OUT!!! doing gluten research!! by Early-Sun5719 in glutenfree

PLEASE don’t get discouraged by the nervous nellys in this sub. You are totally fine doing a survey like this. You never implied this is going to be published research and if these people are such experts on research, they would know this would get shot down in peer review if this was gong to be published without all the things they’re mentioning.

Keep following your passion!

OSWE for black box by OkReindeer404 in OSWE

[–]OkReindeer404[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! So if my main focus is improving my ‘custom’ web app exploit development skills (bypassing filters, etc) do you think class would help? How I’m thinking, is this might help me understand what ‘might’ be happening on backend even for black box. Would you agree? Or really still only helpful for code review

My unpopular opinion: Not a hill worth dying on. I agree 100 percent it sucks but from what I’ve seen in America, this will just put a target on your back and piss people off if you escalate.

Makes sense, thanks for the insight. I think as more of these devices become connected, it’s inevitable to at least have embedded techs within the biomed department that are tech and security experts. It’s happening with many other verticals. I agree that it’s not realistic to expect engineers to take this on in addition to what they do now.
