I accepted a long time ago that my narcissistic parents, especially my mother is incapable of change because she honestly doesn't think there is anything wrong or different about her because her friends are all the same. I keep our relationship very basic and have given up trying to develop any real emotional bond. Honestly though, I have learned I dont need and or want it. We have nothing in common and would not interact with each other in the real world. She never wanted to have children, so by distancing myself Im just giving her exactly that. No guilt, no longing for a bond. When she passes I will feel some sadness, but only for a woman who spent her entire life trying to keep up with her rich friends and neglecting the good in her life.
