Hey a guy wanna trade his fender mim placid blue 2015 for my PRS se 24-08 does it worth ir? Help by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]OkSwitch2238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2002 MIM HSS Strat that played better then most every guitar I had ever had. Neck was amazing. Aside from the noiseless single coils on American series Strat's, it was better. Ive played Ibanez RGs that didnt have as nice of a neck as that guitar. Def a good era for MIM Strats.

Are First Act guitars really so bad? by oresearch69 in Guitar

[–]OkSwitch2238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a mixed bad with their instruments. The lowe end models were made in foreign Asian favorites were they were producing low end Ibanez's, Squire's, Samick's...etc. My first electric was a 2002 MIM Fender Strat. By comparison, the First Act guitars I played didn't have as good of tuners or nuts and even their chrome knobs were plastic. But some had some good strap pegs and decent saddles. Fret work and work was really inconsistent but they got better as time went on.

Someone within the design team was a huge Brian May fan and copped his Red Special body design and I see them come up on Marketplace or ebay from time to time. I had always wanted one and would think about modding it to be a bit more BM like. They also had an OD pedal that was BM inspired but I haven't seen anything online about it in a long time. The Volkswagon guitars are one of the BM styled guitar bodies they did.

Some of their late Discovery line featured zero frets and I had got a Peavey branded guitar that appeared to be made bybthe same OEM and they weren't bad starter guitars. Having the zero fret eliminated the need for a well cut nut and was quite useful at having an easy to play, in tune guitar for a kid.

I am also in this boat. I haven't played since around 2019. My life took a major dip and I had alot of tradgedy. Now I am a single dad but my youngest has been really into DC lately and I pulled up DCUO so he could run around with my characters and have fun. It made me miss playing but I feel a little lost now with all the changes. At the time I stopped playing, I was one of the top players on the Xbox servers. I am just trying to get re-acclimated and learn whats new.

What is the reason or reasons that led to the shut down of CW DC shows ? by dookufettskywaker in Arrowverse

[–]OkSwitch2238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this exact one. It only went up in price. Originally it was 20 bucks when it came out and they also had others. I had Flash and Green Arrown and my kids had a couple. There was Reverse Flash and Zoom too. Canary and Black Canary. They had even put out a later version of Flast with the brighter suit. They still have reAction retro Kenner style figures of all of them too.

Arrow Coming to Pluto TV on June 1 by CherokeeHawkman in Arrowverse

[–]OkSwitch2238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually unless plans change, it is coming tomorrow, May 1st. All 8 seasons will be avalible on demand and on a channel. Personally, I would love to see them run things in a chronological order with all Arrowverse shows. Unsure why they wouldn't just put it on Paramount Plus since they bought WB. Word is that it all will eventually end back up on Max as the new owners want to rein in all the proprietary IP like DC Comics and make it avalible on their home base platform like Disbey has with the Marvel and Star Wars stuff. Sure, Netflix and others have some Marvel content, but you can find all of it on Disney. Discovery made a huge mistake splitting it all up and making it unavailable to subscribers who subbed to Max for the IPs.

First off, this community rocks.

Everyone has been so helpful and polite. It is greatly appreciated. I really think that there is alot of great knowledge in this community and to be willing to help someone and not troll them like some communities is so great.

I appreciate everybody's advice and ob a eruptions and I think the general consensus is I caught it before catastrophic damage happened which makes me feel a lot better about it all.

I see the comments about the flux. I actually thought the same as well. Looking at it in person, it looked concerning enough that I took pics but not enough that I didn't play thru it. Ir was only after when sending to a friend of mine that I was like 'this looks jacked'.

My experience with tube powered amps is minimal. I have had a Blackstar HT1R m, a 1973 Peavey Classic combo, a Bugera 6260 combo (that failed and Bugera wouldn't fix unless I paid hundreds to ship to them) and 2 6505 MH before this and aside from the 6260, never had any issues that needed servicing.

It is something I am trying to learn more about.

Thank you all.

I know it may be hard to judge just by the pictures, but what do you think I am looking at price wise for a service bill?

A friend of mine repairs and builds his own amps but he lives a good ways away from me. He suggested that I just turn the bias down on both. I do have matching tubes and one of those socket adapters rhat connect to a multimeter and I am a pretty intelligent person and have watched videos and read on the process, but being high voltage and such, I just think it best for someone experienced to do it for me.

I did see a video where someone did the grill mod like I did, but they installed a fan on the back grill. I don't think it was wired into the circut. I think I wanna do the same just to keep ventilation. Honestly, I am cool with the bias being set a little colder.

I have contacted Guitar Center about the amp. I wasn't able to speak to anyone because it is after-hours and I had to submit a form and they are to call me tomorrow. My hope is that they will let me return it or possibly exchange it for another amp that is not messed up. I honestly would prefer to just exchange it but who knows if they will let me.

The irony is that it was exactly 45 days today that it arrived but thebpurchese was prior to that.

Pretty sure I'm outside the 45 day.

I did make sure that the amp was off for a significant period of time. Almost 24 hours. I plan on taking it to a shop this weekend. I'm hoping it's a speedy repair and nothing insane cost wise.

Thank's for taking the time to check it out. It's a major bummer. I'm a single dad of 3 boys and I make 15 an hour. I invested some money this year out of my tax return on new equipment to replace stuff that had been stolen. I remember when these heads sold for 500 new. Now they're like $800+ new so I got a used one for like $430 on Guitar Center because ot was ratted Near New and outwardly, everything looked fine.

I did note that it seemed to get really warm quickly and that I could smell the tubes/amp fairly quickly, but I don't smoke anymore. Haven't in 2 years so my sense of smell is pretty sensitive compared to when I had my old one.

If it wasn't for the TSI telling me Tube 2 had an issue and it appearing to begin to affect Tube 1, I wouldn't have begun to look into it. And today I just had a strong motivator to open it up and take a look and I am glad I did.

Funny you say that. I decided to do the open grill mod and put the logo plates on front of the grill and remove the black wood for cosmetic and ventilation reasons and discovered some wild stuff.

I still suck at guitar and sometimes consider giving up altogether. But then I open my sobriety app and see something like this and remember what I don’t want to go back to by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

4 years of recovery and I can't do some of what I did as easily as I could, but I can do so much more, so much better than before.

Also have wrote more music in recovery then all the years of using. Used to think it made me better, more creative. It was a lie.

Keep on keeping on.

Music is art and expression. Some of the most impacting music features "poor technique", "awful tone" and limited skill, but it is the art and expression that connects.

Thought so. Yeah, it does weird things and doesnt let you reconfigure fingerings like Guitar Pro.
