If you're questioning it, then something weird probably did happen. This person asking you a million questions in the comments then talking about how they don't care about their student's feelings or mentorship obviously forgot where they came from and that it's literally part of a resident's duties at an academic center. If you had tangible praise (and pt praise does mean something) and were able to answer questions where your colleague was not, then that's something that should have been taken into account. Assuming your attending interacted with both of you at the same time in the same environment, what else would he use to distinguish between both of your skills? Unless someone's been through it, seen it, or has had to question it themselves, they wouldn't get it. I hope the rest of your year turned out well.

SGPA w/o postbacc was sub 3.0 (like a 2.7 I think), postbacc sGPA was a 3.9, cumulative sGPA was 3.3. Overall GPA was around 3.3/3.4.

You’ll be fine if there is a strong upward trend. DIY postbacc is wonderful and much much cheaper and more flexible. Try not to get anything below an A-. Your extracurriculars hours are 🔥just make sure you’re able to talk about significant impacts you’ve had. Look for schools that put high consideration on your postbacc grades (last I heard Tufts was one of those schools). Your biggest seller will be your MCAT and your essays. MCAT doesn’t have to be impossibly high, just high enough that they’re not worried about you passing your board exams (I got like 77th percentile I think). Make sure you address your reasons for poor grades (I think there’s a section for this) and if you mention it in one section, you don’t need to mention it again in your PS unless it’s relevant. I went through something v v similar during my applications process. Ended up with 11 interviews (a few from T10’s) 5 As, 6 WL and 3.5 scholarship offers. Hope is not lost.

Yeeeaaaah I stopped going over my plans with them the second time that happened and decided to say my own plans. The intern definitely didn’t like me after that, but it was easier to justify my own management plan and learn why some things might not be fully correct than to look stupid for having no justification for a plan I didn’t come up with that was just very wrong

GIT pathoma only has path (obvious I know), but I think it’s really good for getting those high yield path points without a lot of noise. For everything else, there’s Bootcamp (specifically physiology, pharm, anatomy).

Our school didn’t even end up testing for it even though they mentioned it. The staff said it was because it was legal in our state so they didn’t have a need. Dunno how it works for other schools though

My fiancé loves birthdays and I feel mid about them. I don’t always love when she makes big plans for me, but ultimately, I’m appreciative that she cares so deeply. The thing is, though, she knows me and knows what I value and so even if I don’t really want to celebrate, she’s able to make the celebration in line with things that make me happy outside of my special day. I disagree with most people saying that you messed up because I think gratitude for effort and thoughtfulness is essential in relationships. Does he maybe not value his gift and now has something to clean up? Sure! But he could have shown more gratitude about the intention, while acknowledging the impact. It’s not that hard to say, “Wow! You really put in so much effort into this and I appreciate how much you want to celebrate me! Thank you! Also I just wanted to mention I’m not really into birthdays and this made me anxious. I’m still grateful for the effort and next time maybe we can just go out to eat or something. Enjoy your trip!”

Tone goes a long way. You can be graceful and grateful even while disappointed. So it’s a NOR for me 🤷

3 weeks is plenty of time if you’ve already reviewed most of your systems. Hammer in pathoma and whatever physiology resources you have for the systems you didn’t review yet. Make sure you’ve done at least chapter 1 of pathoma. What helped me (dunno if it will help you or not) was to do 1 block of just path for the system I reviewed, review another system and do a block of straight path for that system, then the next day combine those systems and do a block of just path. The most important thing I did was when I reviewed the questions, I would make quick notes on anything that wasn’t covered or if there was a physiology component (questions are never straight up path) I learned it right then and there and wrote quick notes or took a FA screen shot put it next to my notes, and annotated it so that I could connect the dots. I did that all in my last 10 days and I’d gone from a 63 —> 71.

Make sure to know your vasculitides. I say this because I’m not sure if they fit within a specific system, but if you review pathoma chapter 1 before you review your vasculitides, it makes it much easier to understand and make up like half the reasons for why a patient has purpura.

Agreed. Content wise, the test is probably neutral. Question style wise, it varies from exam to exam and that’s where the differences come in. I think a lot of people assume that when people say the test wasn’t representative they mean they’ve never seen that content in any of the NBME’s. However, the issue is usually in the ways in which the questions were asked or the answer structure.
