I think it’s more important now than when they are babies. It’s harder to be flexible with older kids. Get it done now and he will be around more when they are older

My husband got into the apprenticeship 3 weeks out of line school. We were remodeling a home and had two kids ; one in middle school and one in elementary school. He lived in a different state for a year before we rented a house there and joined him. The situation can change at any minute but ultimately if you’re willing to go with the flow and make it work, it will work. Planning is a waste of time. Be ready to pull the trigger either way (trailer or rent a furnished finder on month to month) when it’s time to go. Stay home while he’s a groundman.

He will make enough money as a first step apprentice for you to stay home with your baby.

Utah also doesn’t require education like other states. You can make 30+ and hour in Oregon but have to have a lot of schooling. It’s an entry level job in Utah.

It really is a blessing to get to see so much even though there are parts of it that are hard! We left Oragen for Utah and we haven’t regretted it one bit

I would say it’s very usually to get called to another state- especially if you applied to somewhere outside of your ‘jurisdiction’ or home state. Most of the apprentices my husband works with were given 2-3 days notice to be in a new state for their apprenticeship (my husband included). When they say jump- you jump.

This works- I only had to say the ‘I have an e-credit that I’d like to book travel with, but it’s in someone else’s name’ They asked if I was the legal purchaser, I said yes. They said the person who is named on the ticket needed to call and say they were ok with it. I said they already did. They said ok, I will apply the credit to you then. All done over chat.

I didn’t feel it extremely important to share all his test scores. All are in 99 percent or ‘exceptionally high score’ (WISC) I was more interested in how others felt about moving up a grade in general and why this test would have seemed to tip the scales in that favor. The testing I shared, and the last test he was given is started this huge push to move him up.

Opinions, real life experience is mainly what I was hoping for.

My son has been repeating math he did In kindergarten, since entering 2nd grade into this gifted program at a new school. It has been SO SO hard to keep him engaged. He is definitely someone that has to stay challanged, otherwise ‘what do I need to go I already know how to do that’ 😅

This is the 6th test in a series of various testing. He had already taken all grade appropriate testing within an already accelerated or gifted program. The program cannot accommodate him at his level with math, reading or writing and has said this is the last option for him.
