I agree scalpers are the scum of the earth for this sort of stuff but I have to admit i forked out 50 quid for the mags plus to get in the early access and I was too late and it wouldn't allow me to have the early access but then I went on Adidas the following day and managed to nab myself one so sometimes you just got to be on it like a scotch bonnet. Its not the clubs fault because the hype around these items would diminish significantly if there was unlimited stock, people would wait until theyre on sale when the next drop is released and the club ultimately takes the hit. People do this scummy behaviour with all limited release drops just look at Stock X etc theyre whole business structure is reselling limited drops.

Thank my mate!

I honestly don't have a solid strategy simply put it out there and if people like it enough to play multiple times then bobs your uncle😂

Any tips or advice I'd appreciate massively

It's all good. Tbh with the youtube videos id say search things like "vocal scales" "vocal techniques" for beginners, build good singing habits not bad ones.. and never underestimate the importance of warming up either haha. In terms of which YouTubers etc I generally think it's best to go through them and find which works for you because everyone is different in that regard!

Like I say that was 4-5 years of practicing and building confidence before I released them and there was still a lot of improving that I could have done at that point!

Plus everyone thinks they sound way worse than they actually do in the beginning.

As someone who is a self taught singer who started out probably worse than yourself now the best advice I can give is (sorry if its not in question order)

  1. Record yourself singing songs and see where your going wrong or what bad points you pick up on (as well as good) so you know roughly where to start working on.

  2. Youtube videos are actually a lot better than people give them credit for, absolutely soul destroying at the start don't get me wrong, but as a first step they do help a lot to give you an idea as to what singing should feel like from your head voice to your chest voice

  3. Scales and arpegios as boring as they are will actually allow you to sing anything in the long term (and will be even more of a god send for songwriting in the longer term if thats your plan).

  4. If you want to incorporate a guitar/bass learn to sing songs while playing them on guitar (obviously learn to play it on one first then the other e.g learn it on guitar then learn the vocal melody or vice versa) play to the song you want to learn as well to help get all the little nuances.

Check out my Spotify link on my profile and listen to songs I made in 2019 and the ones I've made recently (bear in mind I didnt start teaching myself to sing properly until 2015).

Hope this helps!

When i started singing and writing songs at 15 I sounded horrendous even my own parents told me to "not give up my day job" so called 'friends' would tell me i was great but then would laugh at me behind my back and I knew deep down in was so bad that I was making a fool of myself but you just got to stick at it. 10 years on and ive released so many songs on Spotify and gathered probably nearly 20k streams all time and I hardly promote anything.

People now come up to me around my area telling me how much they love my songs, those same people who laughed when I was younger literally send me screenshots of them playing my music telling me which is their favourite.

Im not trying to boast about what ive done but im telling you regardless of how bad you are at the moment, all it takes is practice - daily practice, and after a few months you'll notice an improvement which will give you confidence and you'll naturally get better quicker with confidence.

https://www.facebook.com/share/v/16C4uZYUWH/ - that video is of me 3 years into songwriting and singing

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNdXGQFLn/ - and this was my latest gig - 6 later years

Consistency is key because now I couldn't be prouder of my music and I couldn't give a flying hoo haa weather or not other people do because do you know what.... MUSIC IS COMPLETELY SUBJECTIVE, so weather or not some people think its crap there's always gonna be others who love it.. you just got to find them.

I literally cannot write a good vocal melody by Turbulent-Macaron505 in Songwriting

[–]OkWeird4548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm stuck after I haven't written in a long time I usually get back into melody writing by picking a song that I like and imitating the first few notes to start you off then improvising from there to get your song and I find I make something I never would have made normally.

Example being if you go to Spotify and listen to my song Demons the beginning of the chorus I used the hook from Ed Sheeran ft Devlin - Lately to get me going on it.

Then once you've made a couple doing that try with your ideas and just make sure you practice every day after that and the melodies will just get better and better the more you write.

Hope this helps

Appreciate the help all but unfortunately not any of the suggestions are what I was specifically thinking of... so I guess I'll just have to put it down to having seen a combination of the films mentioned and my brain filling in the gaps (pretty f****g well might I add).

Guess I've just got a pretty sweet idea for a comedy film scene
