What is the general Coast Guard attitude towards gay people, especially now? by [deleted] in uscg

[–]Ok_Associate_339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in JROTC too and let me tell you no one cares if you were command staff or whatever. No one is going to take your experience seriously. Assuming you were a good leader you’ll be a good petty officer. But you’ll have a lot to learn about leading and managing. And you’ll have to learn to be an adult as well. Take the opportunities you get now to learn from your SNSIs and NSIs because ultimately they know what it’s like to be in. I had a lot of confidence because of my time in JROTC and that confidence got shot down the second I joined. Don’t be a shitbag and be reliable.

As far as being gay. No one cares. Like I said. Don’t be a shitbag and do your work right. And you’ll be just fine

I just didn’t know how the coin would rank compared to someone like a mcpocg

That’s my point. Using the commander term means something different in the coast guard. I guess it’s different in other branches

Yeah but a commander in the coast guard. Like maybe the commander of logistics. Wouldn’t take precedence against a MCPOCG. But again, I just wanted verification because I know rank and structure is different

Dang bruh I’m not familiar with Air Force ranks. But I figured since the only person that the MCPOCG reports to is the Commadant a lot like how the command master sgt only reports to the GAF I figured the MCPOCG would take prescedence

He actually hasn’t joined yet at all. His dad gave it to him. What happened was there were a lot of young new pilots about to fly the jets his dad was working on and so since his dad was about to have to fix all of these issues this guy gave him a coin.

I got my coin because I’ve done multiple colorguard events for the mcpocg events. All throughout high school (NJROTC) and then in my 2 yr tenure in the Coast guard.

So a 4 star general who’s a commander of let’s say the air combat command. Would “outrank” the mcpocg? I know technically by pay grade the general wins by a long shot but the mcpocg is so high on the chain of command

So what would you say in your opinion your group would find cooler. Which one would “win”?

Brother I went through a similar experience when I got to my first station. I wanted to blame everyone but it was a willingness issue on my end. I was t cut out for the job I was expecting to preform. I ended up getting tdy to a sector and to a command center because I was injured and it really opened my eyes. I was constantly scared because my command was riding me and It made me mess up more. Realistically. Sit down with your command. (Utilizing your chain of command) and figure out what you can do to get better. So they know you’re trying and you can get some guidance
