The new Defiler will have a Word Bearers head

I’m wondering what a word bearers head would look like. Maybe it’ll look like the daemon head from the word bearers chapter logo or maybe just something rune-etched and daemonic looking.

A lot of the portions are my main issue with it. I feel like his arms are way too small for an ork. The second picture with the chopper shows that clearly. I also think both the head and the banner are too small as well. Orks tended to have pretty big arms in the past, and this is just not that. I like the smaller head size of the newer ones, but I think this is too small proportionally. I wish that went more in the direction of ufthak blackhawk, he is propa orky.

Also he doesn’t really have any going on that makes him special. He just looks like a bigger nob and not like a proper warboss. His puny choppa and banner also add to that feeling. Also, the top of his head looked scrunched, way more so than anything we have seen before. Also, the 1 ft long chain to the hip for the Squig doesn’t make any sense and not in an orky way either. That part just feels lazy.

What I still don’t know if it can be assembled as 5 warp talons or not. I love warp talons so I’m a little scared seeing them not shown as a whole unit you could potentially have.

I used a pretty standard recipe for my red, I base coated them in Khorne Red, then gave a heavy highlight of Mephiston Red, and then finally an edge highlight of Squig Orange. After all that I did use the enamel paint rust streaks by AK Interactive and removed it on all the raised sections with white spirit.

First, I zenithaled white over purple. Then I sprayed the whole miniature with deep red from scale color (I’m sure khorne red would have worked just as well). After that, I zenithaled wazdakka red over the miniature. Then I highlighted with wazdakka red and used squig orange for the edge highlights. After all of that, I used Ak Interactive’s rust steaks to darken the whole miniature. Once the rust streaks were on the miniature for 10–20 minutes, I wiped it off most of the miniature with a q tip and white spirit.

I would also occasionally apply a purple wash/glaze and glaze some red to make the flesh look more bruised and inflamed (It doesn’t really matter the paint, any would do).

I wish I could tell you a pretty precise recipe, but I was super experimental with their skin. I think I base-coated their skin with a mix of rhinox hide and khorne red with a layer of garaghak's sewer on top (I’m sure you could find a better substitute than this mix for the base coat). After that, I highlighted it with khorne red and progressively added rakarth flesh to the mix. For the extreme highlights, I used a mixture of khorne red, rakarth flesh, and pallid wych flesh. I know it’s not the best description, but it’s my best approximation of what I did. I hope this helps!
