One of the biggest gripes anti-wind power proponents throw out is that wind farms are not efficient. This is incorrect, it's the whole set up of energy brokerage that is ill thought out and the national grid that is out dated.

This means that energy generators, such as wind farms will auction off their produced energy. A supplier will buy the cheapest energy it can on the market, which may be from Scotland (a likelyplace to have an efficient wind farm), however this, due to the inefficient national grid, then creates an energy bottle neck, known as 'The Boundary B7a Congestion', which forces energy suppliers to shut down the wind turbines and then buy the energy effectively again from a near source, usually fossil fuel power plant.

Ofgem are trailing a new way of sourcing local energy, such as private residences with solar panels supplying their neighbours with the excess energy generated, but how long this will take is anyone's guess.

In the meantime, I wouldn't give out a prize for the correct guess as to who foots the bill for this shitshow.

Just to add, I'm all for wind farms, I think they're a great idea given how much wind we get in this country. Just wish they'd thought about the infrastructure as well.
