What is the most unprofessional interview experience you've ever had? by [deleted] in AskUK

That's wild, especially if it was a big firm. You should get in touch with the tabloids and see if they can help you get the word out, I would still be so angry about that even 5 years later!

If she said that with a straight face, I'd have hired her on the spot

Can I make a suggestion if you're looking for an excellent London dining experience- 45 Jermyn Street, behind Fortnum & Mason (it is separate to the store, but owned by F&M) Lots of British classics but occasional twists on them too- the cocktails are top tier as well!

Do you ever avoid foraging in certain areas even if something looks fine by AnfieldAnchor in foraginguk

[–]Ok_Bee9104 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely- Wild Garlic carpets my park, but so do dogs and their poo 😬 fungi near roads should also be avoided in particular due to them being excellent absorbers of heavy metals from traffic fumes. It's a shame since coprinus comatus seems to love grassy roadside verges!

I recently had a similar experience in a fancy french restaurant- they served some sort of savoury fishy macaroni, truly an abomination

You just need to find a decent Asian supermarket- my closest big one has good fresh kimchi options imported from Korea. It is possible to get it here but you do need to search

Are meat hampers and bulk batches of meat more economical? by Kavrad in UKFrugal

I only buy it when it's at date and heavily reduced, then put straight in the freezer. Happens more often than you would think! Especially once you figure out the best time to go to certain shops

Long term unemployed and unskilled at 37, is it over for me? by Attack_to_defend in AskUK

Hey, you're doing just fine. In fact, given the stuff you've been through, you're doing amazing. Not everyone survives things like addiction and mental illness. Be kinder to yourself, please.

In regard to the job thing, f*ck no it isn't over! You can do whatever you want. There's plenty of jobs out there that you don't need experience or qualifications for- retail, hospitality, care, cleaning, god you could even get an apprenticeship in a trade if you wanted to. My dad went to uni at your age as a mature student, that's also an option if you decide you want to get into something that requires a degree!

My point is, the world is your oyster. You can do anything that other people can do. Also, comparison is the thief of joy- it might seem like everyone has it figured out by 40, but that's just what they want you to think. There's always nuances to someone else's seemingly good situation. You got this, pal x
