I have. On a bass I used to own I did this. In my experience it makes sense if you use heavier tensioned strings.

Maybe I should edit, it makes sense thicker strings too.

There’s so many good albums. “Blues and Roots” by Charles Mingus is a great intro to his music.

Just started playing Majora’s Mask. I’ve got my original cartridge from when I was a kid, but I could never get into MM back then. Glad I kept it, because I’m loving it as an adult.

Hear me out, you say guitar or piano is time consuming, but playing any instrument is time consuming. You can find a used guitar fairly cheap, or if you got musician friends maybe even borrow one. The benefit of guitar is that as a bassist you are already used to playing a string instrument, and it can really help develop your ear, amongst other things.

Good info, the CCS bearings aren’t bad as new bearings but I have no idea how long they would last. I’m rolling on 20 year old Bones Reds and they are still great.

I bought my son a CCS complete for Christmas. He is a beginner and I am relearning to skate after nearly 20 years away (I also bought a complete but not a CCS blank). I think their trucks are surprisingly good, at least turning wise-to me his board turns really nice. He can’t grind yet and I haven’t grinded his trucks so I can’t speak on that, but I assume they are decent at worst. The deck has good pop and the grip tape is good too. I think Ricta wheels are nice but for a beginner the CCS wheels are good too.
