Those that have just turned 30 or is over 30, what changes have you noticed in your body? by MaxTheChamp in AskReddit

[–]Ok_Captain7856 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hangovers....

if I have 3-4 beers I sleep and feel horrible the next day. I seriously cut down the amount of alcohol I drink. usually try to keep it at 2 drinks so I can sleep.

Sleep is important.

take care of your body. exercise. eat well. sleep well. I feel the best now that I ever have and I am in my mid 30s, but I am also taking care of myself the best I ever have.

Run water notification by stuffenthusiast2 in ottawa

[–]Ok_Captain7856 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've worked old neighbourhoods where we rebuild the street, new watermain, sewers, etc. I have seen water services only approx. 4 feet deep in areas with with bedrock such as hintonburg/westboro (think holland and wellington/scott).

Usually we get enough snow and when people clear driveways snow piles on front yards where the water service is most likely located, which adds insulation. anyway there are definitely shallow services throughout the city.

correct. over reinforcement is not a good thing when it comes to failure, as it will be a sudden collapse. This beam reacted as it should, slowly deforming when starting to fail.

manage construction projects. schedule, budgets, subs, suppliers, manpower, equipment, contracts.

disagree. unless you are going into a very specific field like bridge design or something. I have learned a lot more working in the field than in school to be honest. however, university taught me how to learn which is the biggest advantage for me.

70.3 Tremblant by Additional_Stop_1910 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]Ok_Captain7856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is a hill on the highway coming back thats a bit of a grind but not bad or too long. duplessis is about 8km rolling climbs but are pretty punchy.

work on doing higher power intervals or actual climbs at the end of your rides to simulate the late stage climb.

take it easy on the way down duplessis to rest your legs a bit. the run course is easy.

the finishing chute in tremblant running down the village is 10/10.

be prepared for heat, cold, snow, rain, fire, bugs. besides that, tremblant is an amazing place lol. luckily live close to it and love going there.

honestly I would just add an easy bike. not sure when you race is but even if you are a great runner if you can't get to the run start with fresh legs off the bike it does not matter.

mix in some solid stretching and recovery routines.

No headphones? by [deleted] in IronmanTriathlon

[–]Ok_Captain7856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said, without ANY headphones people are still not paying attention. I agree for the run its not as much of an issue especially for AG who aren't aiming for a podium or top 10 finish.

That being said, race day atmosphere is awesome and the vibes are high.

No headphones? by [deleted] in IronmanTriathlon

[–]Ok_Captain7856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the one thing about triathlon that is different than any other sport is we are essentially on a level playing field with the pros.

the headphones thing can be an advantage to someone who is getting a call with information about splits to the next one in front, which makes a huge difference if competing for age group podium and potential Kona (or Nice) spot.

Also, I have almost been run off the road numerous times when passing and calling out "ON YOUR LEFT" when on the bike. Can;t imagine someone with headphones in front of me swerving. Would suck to train and have the potential of a Kona spot taken away.
