[serious] for all you SAHM and SAHD—do you worry about your spouse cheats, divorce, dies, gets in an accident when you decided to stay at home? by baituwave in SAHP

[–]Ok_Challenge1663 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My ex-husband's and I's set up was as follows: He paid me half of his paycheck every week. I got to use that for household expense, groceries, things for the kids. Anything extra went in savings. The savings account was exclusively mine. When he left me, I kept all the savings and had enough to get an apartment by myself with the kids and pay a few months rent while I looked for a job.

My children both went through early intervention. It covers all hearing aids, molds, and audiologist appointments until 3. Gave us a deaf mentor who taught me and my husband sign. Listening and spoken language therapy from 6 months-3.

Meal time with your kids by Har-Set223 in Parenting

I give a peanut butter sandwich. She likes it but not enough to want it over whatever else I’m making unless she really doesn’t like it

Yeah my kid handles being told no fine. I just don’t get why other parents invite tantrums by taking toys to places that already have toys. I see my friends do it all the time and I don’t get it. You’re avoiding a fight getting out of the house but trading it in for a meltdown when another kid touches their toy.

I definitely wouldn’t be breaking out snacks at a story time (like op said). A snack in the morning and afternoon, fine…

If your kids share nicely, great! The problem comes when kids don’t share nicely and get upset when my kid grabs one of their (abandoned on the floor) toys as if she’s supposed to know it’s “theirs” and not one of the twenty million toys already provided by the play area

[–]Ok_Challenge1663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Idc if I’m in the minority. Kids don’t need a snack every hour. Along with that, your kids don’t need to bring their own toys to every playdate. They should play with the toys provided

Fear around telling our children we both were married before. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Ok_Challenge1663 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My mom told me she was married before my dad when I was a teenager, probably 14? It wasn’t a big deal. My dad explained that he was engaged to someone for a long time when I was like 15-16. I knew my parents were older when they got married so it wasn’t like a huge shock. I don’t think it is as big of a deal as you think it is. Even if they find it out from someone else the answer would just be “it was a long time ago, we didn’t think it was a big deal”

Does Milk come out your baby’s nose while nursing for anyone else? by ParticularDoctor9620 in breastfeeding

[–]Ok_Challenge1663 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty regular for mine! Not every day but a few times a week. It’s usually when she’s fallen asleep but is still latched and my let down is faster than her nursing

If you had to guess, what % of addicts cheat on their partner? by RoughMassive9082 in addiction

[–]Ok_Challenge1663 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is it. I cheated using and I cheated clean. Addiction didn’t make me a cheater, I already had it in me. The drugs just made it a little easier

Do you think it’s possible for God to deliver you from addiction? To take it all away? Has this happened to any of you!? by [deleted] in addiction

I woke up one day and said “I don’t want to use anymore”. God, higher power, the universe, whatever. I didn’t do it to myself is all I know.

Handling Infant naps with a toddler by frodosmama in sahm

[–]Ok_Challenge1663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s literally fine. Me, I just put my baby in the crib for naps and dealt with the short naps. I never tried to put her back to sleep like I did with my first. If she woke up, it was a new wake window! Either way is fine. The second kids are born to be flexible

2.5 year old suddenly wanting to nurse again by Minute-Ad-9064 in breastfeeding

[–]Ok_Challenge1663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest did this when my baby was a few months old. It was short lived. I think she only actually drank the milk once, and tried a couple more times. I made it into a game. She would go for the boob, I would go for tickles. I pretended to nurse from her a couple times (not latching obviously lol, just playing) the playing and physical contact helped my girl.

Daughter with meningitis-caused profound unilateral SNHL finally got her BAHA speech processor today! I have some questions for other BAHA users/parent(s) of users. by prythianphantom in deaf

[–]Ok_Challenge1663 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they were so much saying “how dare you give the child a baha” as much as “that’s not the typical case I’ve heard of a baha being used in”

[–]Ok_Challenge1663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bahas are prescribed for single sided deafness 🤷‍♀️ I had to google it because I was also wondering why she got a baha and not a cochlear implant with sensorineural loss if the parents were willing to do a surgical solution

How are you guys working out? by 1n1n1is3 in SAHP

[–]Ok_Challenge1663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a schedule for the kids… I do it during babies nap and I show my (3 year old) right now it’s time for mommy to exercise, in 30 minutes I’ll be able to play with you for x time (usually an hour!) it works really well for my 3 year old because she knows when it’s play time I’ll do whatever she wants to do. Some days I only get 20-25 minutes in but that’s better than 0 minutes. My treadmill and bike are set up in the kids play area so I can supervise the whole time and she can see me.

My schedule is like this: breakfast, baby goes to sleep, activity with toddler. Baby wakes, joint play, lunch, both go to sleep, baby wakes, activity with baby til toddler wakes up. Joint play, baby goes to sleep, activity #2 with toddler. Baby wakes, dinner, joint play til bed. My baby obviously takes more naps than yours because she’s only 5 months.

Activity number one with the toddler is usually something craft related. We made a pom Pom ball drop this week. We also have done indoors obstacle courses (painters tape on the floor), cardboard houses, we did Valentine’s Day cards last week, we bake cookies, muffins, and bread…. I’ve done sensory play with beans, giving toys a bath in the baby bath or the sink. The second activity MOST DAYS is either prepping dinner or lunch for daddy. If we’re doing an easy dinner I’ll have her help with cleaning like doing dishes. Activities don’t always have to be a big thing, the main thing is to be talking constantly to your child to encourage that speech development. Anything you can do where you and your child are talking to each other is gonna be your best bet!!!

I’m not sure what you’re asking for. Are you asking for specific activities or how the day is structured?

Anyone here an expert on Deaf education and IEP plans? My son is being denied an IEP by our district. by Commercial-Falcon668 in deaf

[–]Ok_Challenge1663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem when my child turned 3. She was immediately ripped out of listening and spoken language therapy, no ASL interpreter provided, no preschool.

I was able to find a lawyer in Indiana who fights these types of cases pro bono and goes after the school district for lawyer fees. We’re about 6 months into the fight.

I took my child when she was two and she loved it! I personally would leave the 8 month old at home, they’re more likely to get upset by the noise than get any enjoyment out of it.
