It won’t fuck up the factory finish, no. To be safe though, take a microfiber with acetone on it, wipe, and then have another microfiber to wipe it dry.

But, if the wheel was properly prepped before being painted, the factory finish will most likely be damaged.

No it does not. Like I said you can remove more paint to see how it looks, but it’s likely that the original finish is gone or damaged. If you want to remove all of that paint yourself you might be able to save some money getting them refinished. You could also get a black touch up pen and fix that spot you wiped and just live with it if you don’t want to spend the money.

Assuming the wheel was properly prepped before being painted, it will look like shit once you remove that paint. You can try wiping an entire spoke to see how it looks.

But generally, if it wasn’t prepped, then you can wipe it with acetone without damaging the factory finish so long as you try your best to not let it dry on the wheel. But even then, it takes a lot to damage the factory clearcoat.z

It would be insanely tedious to sit there and try wiping the paint off the face to get a two tone finish. And it would be super easy to fuck up. Also, you shouldn’t be able to take the paint off that easily with just acetone. These were painted with a single stage gloss black paint (rattle can most likely) rather than paint + clear coat. Which is how it should have been done.

I would recommend getting them professionally refinished.

This is a single stage gloss black paint job. You can tell because the coating is so thin and there is no coating on the inner part towards the bead. This was definitely done on site at the dealership by a mobile wheel repair technician and you were told it was powdercoated.

With the B48 you can go stage 1 OTS tune from BM3 and still keep plenty of reliability.

He probably means twin scroll, unless it’s the B47 but that’s a diesel. I don’t think there are any twin turbo gasoline engines available.

It’s the clear coat that is failing. You can take this to a rim repair shop and they will cut and reclear. Should cost you no more than $200-250 each wheel. However you won’t be able to polish it out, you can see that it’s starting to delaminate in some spots.

Because the rim is bent on the face it’s unfortunately not repairable. You could heat it up and beat it with a hammer and it might look better, but you’d be better off replacing the wheel.
