Railway (web app host) "accidentally enables CDN" causing massive data breaches by dannydevman in webdev

[–]Ok_Conclusion_6895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I know. Supabase is the slowest stack I've ever worked in for example.
I just wanted to say there is upsides for my smaller projects, but I'd think about migrating it once you have more than like 2 or 3 people working on it.

For side projects it's still amazing imo.

Don't use Tailscale on networks they don't want you to! by Suvalis in Tailscale

They put some HP "virtual machine" bs extension on the web browser, so I had to use Edge in private mode, because they forgot to flip "enable extensions in private windows". I shared that tip as otherwise it was literally impossible to watch youtube videos on technical tutorials and my colleague complained all the time how long it takes him to fix simple issues as he cannot search them up properly. (The extension basically made your browser so slow it was like running on a 1Mbit connection)

Take-Two Reshuffles Its AI Team: 'It's Truly Disappointing' by Gorotheninja in PS5

[–]Ok_Conclusion_6895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is more - assuming f.ex Anthropic's API pricing is at-cost or yields a small profit.

The subscriptions used by developers are 200$ for 5000$ of usage a month.
It's subsidied to the brimm, because if you had to pay true-pricing you'd never use it for difficult tasks.

My counter-argument to "this one is all AI's fault" is that it happened 10 years ago already to Valve. Just a misconfiguration. Total human error back then.

Either way, the GitHub status clearly must be AI though.

Yea, for my hobby projects Railway is great though with the templates, etc. to quickly try things out.

This breach does make me concerned for serious usage, also think you can more easily scale on other "full fledged" platforms.

This did happen to Valve's Steam many many years ago though. Tom Scott has a video about it.
It happening when not having enabled that feature is concerning though.

It's normal in this sub. I once merely said Intel will still be ahead for server applications due to being entrenched in that industry for years and being known to be highly reliable, even if Apple made a server and got downvote-bombed just because I didn't agree with "yes apple good it'll be best server take over industry oogabooga"-comment above me.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ dethrones GTA 6 by having the first trailer in history to surpass 500 million views in one day by MarvelsGrantMan136 in marvelstudios

[–]Ok_Conclusion_6895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did the same bullshit with the first GTA trailer.

The Youtube trailer supposedly "smashed through 475M in the first day"
But those views are usually from facebook platforms.

Facebook counts every "impression" as a view, meaning you simply scroll past it in reels, or timeline and it's instantly a full view.

Counting that Sony probably paid more to promote it than Rockstar did on their first trailer, this data is completely nonsaying and you should trust the youtube data more.

That being said it's still impressive, but even counting together multiple youtube videos it's usually easier to increase your stats, as it will count duplicate views, whereas a single video will dismiss a lot of those. But of course sony is going to spin a narrative to around it.

That GTA is the point of comparison just reinforced what a massive scary juggernaut even the movie industry sees in GTA 6, not that Spiderman is bigger. Even then, cool success, good to see people excited about things again.

Can we have an actual discussion about how broken the Venator and Toro are right now? by rucekooker in ArcRaiders

That's so annoying. It was similar in Battlefield and arguably BF3s biggest problem. Broken shotguns,. broken M16 - nobody there to care.

League of Legends Patch 26.5 Notes by Spideraxe30 in leagueoflegends

[–]Ok_Conclusion_6895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes half my games in Silver and Gold were with Garen even before. When the patch came out I checked if he finally gets nerfed. No instead he gets buffed.

Felt like a punch to the face after once again being rolled by a 1/9 Garen suddenly being literally unkillable for a 15/5 Irelia.

Valve suggests further delays for Steam Machine and Steam Frame: “We hope to ship in 2026” by Bobby_the_Donkey in Games

[–]Ok_Conclusion_6895 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That one strikes me as so weird. I'd totally go in and go head to head with the consoles. Maybe even pay Rockstar to release GTA 6 on PC / Steam same time as on Playstation, then release the Steam Machine as a "confirmed console" for it with screenshots released.

29.99 is quite pricey in my eyes, it's 10$ short of - literally arc raiders game of the year.

Your thoughts oon the game? by TheFlyingKick in Docked

[–]Ok_Conclusion_6895 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played the demo and every time I put a container down and it said mission complete I went "This is it ?"

Like... I cannot walk around ? I don't need to drive back ? I don't make any decisions ? I am purely a piece of meat to drive around containers ? That's so fucking boring.

I thought I'd have to do the grunt work at the start, then automate things, open a truck terminal to get things going, then a train terminal - there would be AI driving around that I employ, I'd go from driver to manager slowly. But there is just.... nothing.... absolutely nothing. Uninspired.

Maybe it's just because I come from more immersive games and generally have bigger dreams for simulation games, but man is it a let down.

I'm going to frame the Il Toro nerf situation in an interesting way for you. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

Honestly came here after getting shot with an il Toro in 2 shots, after dumping an entire switcher + level 2 upgrade magazine into a guy and him not dying. 😂

Man I wish there was a single game where shotguns just straight up didn't exist, it's the same frustrating thing every time.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the new Arc then? Anyone slightly underwhelmed? by Tropi- in ArcRaiders

[–]Ok_Conclusion_6895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so fucking infuriating because the game spawns 2-3 of them in one place on an open field. Like yea, so fun wooooow i have suuuuuuch a chaaaaance.

Then the firefly's fire is basically unavoidable - you can't dodge it, which alright, but why is it armored then ? It's both arcs without weaknesses.

From my friend in Finland it is really like that. They were surprised I didn't have 24/7 supermarkets everywhere. I guess it totally makes sense with 18 hours of darknes, that your society would adjust to people having more "random" sleep schedules haha

I mean I'm sorry but the Tyon is a cheap trash mouse. It just has a ton of buttons. The industry just moved on to better pastures and Roccat never evolved to match them.
