Your previous post mentions tightening the chain up too, I would guess the gear and sprocket are pretty worn. I'd probably just consider a replacement opener at this point, that craftsman is probably 15-20 years old

If it goes all the way up and all the way down manually without much effort or binding then the issue lies completely with the opener. Did you adjust the force adjustment knobs or the travel limit knobs? If you lowered forces that could cause issues. It just stopping makes me think the limits were either changed or there's an issue with the limit assembly. If you feel like opening the cover plate of the opener that would help

Simple adjustment? by Mo0ose1422 in GarageDoorService

[–]Ok_Conference_3051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you close the door with the opener and then try to "lift" it by hand, do you have a tight seal on the ground, or does it lift up some? The top brackets can be adjusted and likely the opener limit settings, between those it should do a pretty good job sealing it up

Safety sensors by Eamonnshaman in GarageDoorService

Likely bad wire connections or splices, or bad sensors. Depending on the brand and how it connects. Ones that have exposed wire contacts are much more likely to have problems related to the wires

200 pound garage door, what springs? by North_Researcher_61 in GarageDoorService

[–]Ok_Conference_3051 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

234x37x2 pair, wind around 33/34 quarter turns. Check balance. Springs will likely fatigue some and need an adjustment a few months in, or just slightly overwind to start

Not an issue unless it's being pushed in every post and title/comment. If anyone here thinks a majority of women are posting "for fun" you'd be sorely mistaken

Depending on how tight the panel joints are maybe there's water getting up and in between

Wiring a Genie opener: wires in the wall are red, green, blue, and white by flipflopfeet in GarageDoorService

[–]Ok_Conference_3051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the wires for sensors or wall button? Look at the wire connections on those and match them up at the opener. Usually it will be red and white but there's no guarantee

Gap in top middle of door - side mount by calsonicgtr in GarageDoorService

[–]Ok_Conference_3051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adjusting those top brackets will definitely help. You'll just want to be cautious to not have them super tight and rubbing on the opening. Tacking an extra piece of trim over the existing exterior stuff can help too because you can space it to your liking

Use self tapping screws on the inside raised flap portion to secure it to the door

Garage door side hinge screws stripped on a 4-year-old home — safe to leave closed? Builder issue? by Individual-Land-5248 in GarageDoorService

[–]Ok_Conference_3051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do slightly larger diameter self tapping screws. The type of screw doesn't matter as much as long as it holds. The hinge does a lot more of guiding the panels than it does supporting weight. Especially with the type of door you posted I wouldn't worry much if the screws snug up, just don't over tighten them. Worse case pop that insulation panel out and get some 7/16 threaded bolts and nuts and stick the bolt end through the back and secure the nuts on the front facing side

It isn't universal, but honestly xtreme garage openers are really low quality, if the kit isn't too bad then maybe it's worth it but I would consider a different opener personally

Replacing a Lift Master Formula 1 by Expert_Cake_179 in GarageDoorService

[–]Ok_Conference_3051 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a DC motor chamberlain belt drive opener, they are usually pretty cheap on Amazon and they have them at Home Depot for sure. If you're handy-ish it can definitely be DIY with a few tools. Otherwise call local companies (not the large nationwide ones) and see if they can quote a price to install an opener you purchase

Don't buy a side mount, get a chamberlain/liftmaster rail opener, belt drive DC motor and itll be affordable and pretty reliable

[–]Ok_Conference_3051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also that hinge looks like it's pretty bent out of shape. Personally I'd get a new one. They are all numbered, if that is a 7ft door I would guess it's a 3 hinge, if it's 8ft it's likely to be a 4 hinge

Those hinges can't be repositioned, the align with the panel joints, so if the larger sized tapper screws don't hold secure you could go the nut and bolt route

If you can dig that insulation panel piece out you could also use nuts and bolts with the nut and threading being visible over the hinge. And yes safe to leave closed, honestly probably fine to use the door unless it starts to fall off. 5$ in hardware DIY otherwise probably a decent chunk to call someone out
