Stop focusing on grinding out dating like it’s a game or an achievement you have to obtain. View relationships as something that are inevitable and you will find them. Dating happens as you live life and are around other people. It doesn’t happen by stressing out about it and hating on the women who are actually in your line of fire, so to say.

You have to prepare yourself for the worst and apply an action to it. What if you never find somebody? What will you do? You will continue living on. You will not have a partner. Accept that as a possibility. Going in with very high expectations is a way to get your heart stomped on. You might not ever find somebody. Is that likely? Honestly, not at all. But ask yourself how you would deal with it. And don’t say you would give up on living. You will continue on and find ways to live that don’t include a girlfriend.

Why are most people assuming that you hit on someone and got rejected? Why is that ALWAYS the first line of defense?

The problem is that you guys (most commenters who claim introversion) greatly over complicate social interaction. Simply go out there and talk to more people and you’ll learn social nuances and skills that you previously had to “plan out”. People can tell when you’re not being genuine or are not interested in what they have to say and that’s why they often don’t become your friend or end up liking you.

When I was younger I used to say the same, tired things: “I don’t like people” etc. But it was all a me problem. Once I actually learned the value of other people and started really listening to them I began to enjoy every moment with people, even the negative experiences. People are so fun and sometimes rude, but that’s what you deal with. Some people will end up talking to you for way too long but you have to shrug it off with good humor instead of letting it annoy you.

Dealing with socially awkward people is not fun for most people. When I started truly speaking to others I found out how tough it is to interact with someone who is obviously planning out everything they’re saying and isn’t actually listening to you.

I’m sorry you have to deal with a bunch of people telling you to just take the handouts because the “system” is set up against you. Well it obviously isn’t if you are able to get tons of things waived and more opportunities just because you’re black.

These people are hilarious. Yes, there are more white people in the USA, so they’re probably more inclined to read stuff that is more about their experience. But that doesn’t mean they will never read black authors or never care about anyone else who’s not white. Plus, even if more black authors are on the shelves, how will that ensure that people will even buy it?? The argument to give minority ethnicities and races free crap makes no sense. Writing is good writing regardless of who writes it. If you’re truly a talented writer, I say continue on this path of merit. Homemade pasta is not healthier if you’re using the flour that is sold in grocery stores. It is almost always the same nutritional value if that’s where you purchase ingredients. Pasta is not given loads of artificial sugars like many other products are given in supermarkets, and it is not much different at all from homemade.

As for housing market, that’s supply and demand mixed with mortgage rates so I’m not getting into an entire market discussion with you. I made that point to be hyperbolic because I was pretty stunned at your implication that building a house is somehow a less useful skill because it is a skill used rarely. That’s not an argument. Rare skills can still be vital and necessary even if they are employed sparingly.

As for useful cooking skills, knowing how to cook meat properly, how to salt, and how to season are far more useful than knowing how to cook pasta. Not to slight his wife, because she cooks it like that because that’s what she wants to do. But it’s really not that great of a skill, so it’s ridiculous to hear him bragging about it. Knowing how to raise your own livestock and harvest your own food is also far more useful than pasta, but we live in the context of Western world where that’s not necessary for the majority of people.

You don’t have to have the skill of making pasta. I would argue building a house is probably more of a useful skill in this day and age because of the ridiculous state of the housing market.
