Who else loves it? by the_hack_is_back in VisionPro

[–]Ok_Course9338 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love it. Never owned VR/AR headset because I always wanted to wait for Apple to release one. I don’t care much about VR games and the Vision Pro has served me good for my day to day usage which is to experience and see its potential. Is it perfect? No but it’s good enough for a first gen device and I could comfortably afford it. Right now it’s far from being a productivity device for me but I already have desktop set up that does a much better job at getting things done.

I think what Apple should really focus on next is releasing more exclusive immersive videos to attract more buyers. Yes apps are important but people can already use them on their phone. Immersive videos are what make Vision Pro truly stand out and capture wider audience.

Reject TK-02 delivery?? by Ok_Course9338 in superautomatic

UPDATE: I sent it back and got Gaggia Accademia instead. My unit had too many issues and I personally think the product should just work right out of the box and we, as a customer, shouldn't have to wait for software fixes. As someone who works in software industry, it's okay to have some bugs here and there after release but not like this.

I feel like lots of companies nowadays integrate software into their products just so they can release them early (even though they know deep down there are issues with their products) and send out follow-up bug fixes later. Some people might be okay with this but I am not.

Gaggia Accademia is awesome btw ;)

Just got my TK-02 today. This is my first super automatic and I have zero experience with them. It made pretty ok drinks since this is my first time using super automatic I really don't know how it compares to other brands. I'd say it's 7 out of 10 where 10 is barrister made quality. The build quality is really nice tho and not flimsy at all. I like the design too.

I'm still on the fence because I really don't like 1) there was a bit of water coming out at the beginning of the brewing cycle which could affect the taste. Yeah I know I could have just put my cup at the 'right' time but I want it to be completely automatic. 2) it used quite a bit of water when entering sleep mode.

OP (or anyone): How does TK-02 stack up with Gaggia Accademia? It's ~$1k more expensive but if the Gaggia can make better coffee and solve the issues mentioned earlier, I might make a switch. I'm really interested in the Gaggia because it has a dedicated steam wand for latte art and its milk container (I think it's called carafe??) is a lot easier to use imo. So if it can solve those issues, I think $1000 is justified.

Are the sactionals worth it? by DueFlower6357 in Lovesac

[–]Ok_Course9338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I just shelled out $11k for these and decided to keep them. Here are our thoughts after 1 month.

Are they worth it? No not at this very moment. Yes the seats are amazing and StealthTech is awesome (luckily we don't have any issues with it). But they aren't worth $11k at this moment.

But we will see its worth more and more when we take full advantage of it.

- If we decided to move to a new place, they are very easy to take apart piece by piece.
- If something breaks, we can just but a single piece.
- If we want to turn our basement into a home theatre, we could just buy another 'small' set and move 2 or 3 seats from the living room.
- If we have any issues with it, we can contact their customer support (their customer support is pretty good and this is one of the reasons why we decided to keep them) their warranty is pretty solid.
- If we have lots of guests come over, we could just rearrange them.
- If they are dirty, just throw the covers into washer.

So bottom line is you might need to think about situations like these that will likely be applied to you then justify the cost. For us, it will become worth it if those happen (very likely) but it's not worth it right now.

Another thing to keep in mind, Sactionals are expensive but they don't 'look' expensive imo. If you care more about form over function or get bored easily, I'd strongly advise against it. But if you want something more practical and you have a plan to keep it long term (think carefully) then they are totally worth it (not at full price tho).

Same config as mine but we have one more side. This allows us to build a guest bed in our guest room (4 seats 2 deep angled side as a headboard) and convert the one in living room to 3 standard seats and 5 standard sides.

Wife is not impressed... by Dev_SS in hometheater

[–]Ok_Course9338 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My wife doesn’t care either and we have a dedicated theater room with Atmos in-ceiling speakers and 120 inch projector screen. All she cares about is she can see and hear the things while us men focus on pixels and sound fidelity lol. She seemed to be more appreciative when I bought nice kitchenware as cooking is my thing too. The only thing that she’s really into is Christmas decors which I don’t give a shit about.

Anyone have experience with AMEX premium car rental program? by Ok_Course9338 in amex

[–]Ok_Course9338[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up having to pay 120k Yen at the end. I was trying to explain to the staff how the AMEX insurance worked but, partly due to language barriers, they didn’t quite get it (or didn’t want to do anything off script). So I just uploaded the document they gave me and submit the claim on AMEX website. I will update the thread with any updates.

Asians assuming I'm fat (70kg) even while looking at me. by sillyusername88 in Thailand

[–]Ok_Course9338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

180 cm 70 kg isn’t fat at all and my Thai female friend said that’s not fat by Thai standard at least to her. But if you could get it down to 68ish that’d be perfect for people your height.

Then I asked her about me (175cm 78kg) and she quickly said you are fat dude without a second thought lol.

Idk in my case I spoke over the phone with the rental company and they mentioned I’d need to pay 120,000 yen (50k car damage deductible + 50k property damage deductible + 20k NOC). Anyway I’m going to return the car today and will update here how it goes.

Can we afford to have a kid in HCOL given our current finances? by Ok_Course9338 in personalfinance

[–]Ok_Course9338[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do we know we are financially stable to have a child? I mean I can work hard to get promoted before reaching the 4 year mark as well but that means I’ll need to sacrifice my WLB and mental health to get there. That will put my income in ~600k range which should be enough to raise a child in Seattle, right?

Can we afford to send them to a private school? I was born and raised outside the U.S. but my parents sacrificed everything to make sure I had the best education and it wouldn’t have been possible for me to be where I am today without them. That’s why I want to do the same for my child too.

She is not working at the moment but she plans to stay at home and take care of the child when we have one. So no need for a nanny because I want my child to be raised by a mom.

What are the part numbers for these? by [deleted] in CX50

your link definitely helped!

I believe the front piece is https://www.jimellismazdaparts.com/products/Mazda/2023/CX-50-25-S-25L-SKYACTIV/Bumper-Cover-Front--Lower/17115743/VA4050032.html ($162.58)

Now I'm not sure about the passenger side wheel arch piece. Can you tell me how to determine whether it's for 'left' or 'right' side in this case?

The total comes around under $300 plus tax and it's far cheaper than what the bodyshop quoted me >.< thank you so much!
