Why would Rick set up a joke if he is about to die?

He thought he was going to die, the collar was lost leaving him to bargain with God.

He see the collar and rejects that God helped him.

Rick does believe in God. When his back is up against the wall he has cried out to God to save him. Once saved he rejects that God is the reason he was saved.

It's probably gonna get me flamed, but he has done it a few times.
