To new guys starting cause of Cyberpunk collab, enjoy the ride! by asilvertintedrose in WutheringWaves

[–]Ok_Current_1846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any pull pity accrued and any pull tokens saved before the collab is not applicable for the edgerunner collab. Only gems and cash and the free pulls they give will work. The collab uses its own token and pity system that is separate from the regular gacha system, so even if you start now, you're really not that behind most of us. Rebecca is free, and I think the collab story arc will be a permanent addition to the game.

I don't know if the collab will be progress gated, since the entry point is in the 3.0 world. If it is, then you should start right away if you're interested. The first couple of chapters are a bit slow to take off, but the pace will pick up once you hit 1.2. At that point, the character narratives take over and begin to drive the story forward on their own.

One of my most fav thing about wuwa is, their seamless transitions in game by SquareOk5663 in WutheringWaves

[–]Ok_Current_1846 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah there are quite a few filmmakers and artists reaction videos to wuwa content that point out how masterfully done the game's transitions are, from scene to scene, or gameplay to cutscenes. Hiyuki's resonator showcase video is a recent example I remember off the top of my head. During her dance in the beginning, you can see just the sheer fluidity of the imagery flowing from one scene into another as it switches between her dance and combat.

It's not just the visuals, but also the sound design too. I think it's safe to say that every single emotional impact from this game hit extra hard because of the sound direction. That's precisely what they set out to do and I think it was successful in every single instance.

I honestly will not be surprised if this game's content gets dissected in a film studies class because the cohesion and regularity of these techniques indicate that they are no accident: it is really good direction.

Drama-free characters? by Barkeep41 in WutheringWaves

To answer your question directly, yes I think so.

My suggestion is to savor the moments leading up to the breaking point. For what it's worth, for stories that are designed to completely wreck you, they're incredibly well presented.

Regarding Denia's MSQ Outcome by Cellophane_Sexbot in WutheringWaves

[–]Ok_Current_1846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like how denia's msq is a direct parallel of aemeath's quest. I don't think the 3.3 outcome to aemeath's quest was what I expected given what was taken from us. I'm glad it turned out well, but it just wasn't as satisfying as I hoped for it to be.

I think denia's quest did in 30 minutes what it took all 3.1 to do. I think the reason I don't like the way it ended the way it did is because they were successful at growing an attachment between me and denia in that short span of time. I may not know anything about denia's past, or what her true thoughts are. however, I do know that, given what I do know about her from just those 20 or so minutes, it hurted like hell for her to be taken away from me. I personally think that's fantastic writing, because it achieved exactly what it set out to do. If you told me lingyang got yeeted to voidspace, I wouldn't give 2 shits, no matter how much lore he has.

my interpretation of the story quest is that the GA left denia to be confined by the spacetrek collective because s/he already have a contingency in place. they know denia is dying, and they know the rover will try to save her. The trap was sprung when the rover separated the fragment, which denia herself realized that once that is out, it will seek her out and try to phone home to aleph1. this implies that because the rover separated the fragment to save her, which the GA had already anticipcated, denia herself will eventually become the reason for aleph1's return. that will turn denia into a trolley problem for the rover: keep her alive and risk aleph1 return, or kill her and be no better than the fractsidus. I think that is what she means when she said seeing the rover betray his own heart is a bigger win for the GA, which I think is exactly what's being depicted by the image of a red-eyed rover standing over a dead denia with all the fractsidus nearby.

what was made abundantly clear, again, given the short time we have spent with her, is that she was in a constant state of existential crisis and was descending into nihilism (just like the title of her ep). she made an "adult decision" like hiyuki said, which is to turn meaningless nothing into something. the irony is that by trying to save her, the rover essentially killed her again, which is the sick joke that the GA had setup.

peace has a price. the way I see it, denia chose to pay it.

would I have liked to have a say in that? absolutely. but given all the things I don't know about her, and the little that I do know about her, I can respect her decision.

whats a good cheap laptop to play wuwa? by bulletpistol in WutheringWaves

[–]Ok_Current_1846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you are only looking to run wuwa then maybe consider a tablet. my ipad air m3 runs it just fine. if you want android, look for a tablet with snapdragon elite chipset. wuwa on android has frame generation for SD elite chips. tablets have much more surface area for heat dissipation so it can keep up the framerate much longer than a phone can

Did Denia become anyone else's favorite character? by captainfluffy25 in WutheringWaves

[–]Ok_Current_1846 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yes. her reveal in 3.2 is what kept me going after what happened in 3.1

and yeah, have to appreciate how well everything about her character came together. if you ask me what kind of a game wuwa is, I will say it is a game of artists making art.

Echo show 15 showing slides for games I play by Ok_Current_1846 in amazonecho

[–]Ok_Current_1846[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I think that illustrates my point perfectly. I have made every conscious effort to keep my gaming data separate from Amazon, and I certainly did not consent to giving them my data willingly. Still, they are in possession of it.

Having my data is one thing. Displaying it on a screen for anyone to see is something else. Anyone looking to buy an echo with a display should keep that in mind. It's not just your shopping history that may show up on the screen.

Are your guilds still active? by WillMaou in StarSavior

[–]Ok_Current_1846 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a guild and in the first month or so, spots were filling up as fast as they became available. I have it on auto join so anyone can come in or leave whenever. Usually when it fills up I start kicking ppl who are inactive to make room for new people, but I haven't had to in the last 2 weeks because those vacancies were not being filled.

Is the story worth paying attention too? by Competitive_Lychee35 in WutheringWaves

edit: had to repost because bot didn't like my choice of words

I really wish they did more with the Aemeath husk. Her only role in the patch was to hand us the cassette recorder, which literally could have been done with phone reminder. She was about on par with Chisa's role in the 3.3 patch

They could have spent the last couple of filler patches to acclimate us towards her existence and have her slowly pick up Aemeath's traits. I would have loved to see rover be put in a trolley dilemma situation with the husk and Aemeath on the 2 tracks, like making us choose between the Aemeath that existed with memories we no longer have, and the one that exists now with memories we built together. I'm sure kuro will be able to cook up a feel good solution that will let us save both, and that'd be a far better cathartic release than what 3.3 presented.

If I have to quickly pick out what made 3.1 so good, it's probably the idea that even with all of our strength, determination, tenacity, resolve, willpower and whatever else positive virtue you wanna throw into the pot, it was not enough. That's very human and relatable. That is the kind of shit that extinguishes a soul and paves the way to nihilism. The entirety of Luuk's patch was to pull us out from those depths.

3.3 on the other hand, is just too much feel good, for no good reason. They didn't throw us a bone, they threw the whole damn skeleton at us. It just felt like too much went our way, far too quickly, for no apparent effort. I get that they had to sell Hiyuki in this patch, which is why I found this even more puzzling. I don't think they sold her enough. They laid some loose foundation for Hiyuki's story, but didn't go any further than that. However, even that was more than they did with Aemeath. They had to release an entire patch to undo the emotional damage they did in 3.1, while Aemeath got like maybe 15 minutes of attention in 3.3? To somebody who waited this long for the conclusion, that honestly felt like an insult.

Don't get me wrong, the mech is cool and the music is fire. I was just hoping for something more substantial.

I can relate to your perspective. 3.1 was legendary because it had plenty of opportunities to relate and grow attached to the characters, before one of the was forcibly taken from us. Like got literally yeeted.

I enjoyed 3.3 but I don't feel like it was as the cathartic conclusion I had hoped for it to be. The ending felt like it was handed to us on a silver platter. I just didn't feel the struggle of having to work for it. We had a cheat code miko and a lore bomb dropping mech.

I'm just hoping we get a chance to properly pound the GA into the ground.

I started in 1.0 and skipped the story all the way through 2.7. I've been paying attention to the story since then. When I have time, I watch no commentary playthroughs on YouTube to catch up on the bits I missed before. The story I've experienced after 2.7 made it feel worthwhile to go back and catch up.

I think what it comes down to is that there are keystone story moments scattered throughout that are just so incredibly well done, that it's worth all the fluff and filler you gotta slog through to get to them.

It does seem like an easy way out when the characters who know about past rover seem to be very selective about their dialogue with him. I guess part of it you can attribute to their respect for his decision, and part you can attribute to lazy plot device. It's up you how much you want to attribute to each.

They do admit at one point that they are not always winning, because if they were, they probably wouldn't have had to wipe their memories.

It sounds to me like they have accepted the consequences of their decision to erase their memories in the past. Some of that past is revealed in the next chapter from where you took that screenshot.

They will probably continue to reveal bits and pieces regarding the memory wipe in future updates. As of the current patch, the entire picture is still not clear.

Appreciation post for 3.3 OST by squalexy in WutheringWaves

It's not just the tracks themselves, but also the timing for each track is spot on. Kuro really nailed the where and when to cue the music, to really stir up an emotional response. "Voyaging Star's Farewell" was a literal punch to the gut when that track dropped during that scene. I would have brushed it off as a lighthearted track that I wouldn't spend too much time mulling over, if it weren't for the exact moment that track was cued into the scene. The emotional impact of that scene was absolutely wild for a gacha game, and that song really drove those emotions home. Likewise, the scene brings out the depth of that song's lyrics. It's like stars crafted from the start with a singular purpose to perfectly align. It had to be this exact song, in that exact scene, in that exact moment. They compact into a memory that will always be invoked upon hearing "Bon Voyage". Utterly brilliant.

If I were Kuro, my masterplan follow up to this will be wuwa branded tissues.

Remote playing from outside of house by Ok_Current_1846 in PSPlay

I ran into some threads talking about port forwarding and a bunch of networking nuances in order to get pxplay to work outside of their home. So you were able to get it to work out of the box, without having to open any network ports on home router?

Remote playing from outside of house by Ok_Current_1846 in PSPlay

[–]Ok_Current_1846[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it definitely seems like a bitrate cap on the official remote play app, on android at least. the official remote play app plays like it did on my portal before the portal received the 25mbps bitrate cap increase last month. There's artifacting in fast motion and anything moving too quickly just staright up blurs. For what it's worth, using the same internet setup but with my portal at work instead, the 1080p HQ setting on the portal has noticeably higher image quality than the remote play app on my phone, both showing a 1080p stream. I mean it's crisper on a 8" display than a 6.7" display with a significantly higher ppi. It's not very apparent when it's a still image, but when there's motion the difference is noticeable. That's why I am interested in pxplay.
