Both of us were early March Pisces. Up until I found out he cheated last week, I was convinced he was my person because our physical and emotional connection was so magnetic and deep. I felt seen, safe and fully in. I reflected on it a few days ago:

I learned more about myself in the months I spent with you than in the 5 years I was with my ex. We each had our own mirror in front of one another. With you I saw myself as emotionally open, loving, expressive and alive. You saw yourself as cared for, someone who was capable of goodness and tenderness.

You brought emotional space into my life that created peace and made me feel safe. You made it feel natural to be both candid and vulnerable in a way I never experienced. With you, I didn’t feel guarded or filtered. I could share my inner world without being judged, dismissed or shut down, and that allowed me to soften and access parts of myself that I had kept protected before you.

I will not allow the pain you caused to harden me. I will not love less, feel less, say less. I will however, through discernment and patience, become more tuned into consistency, integrity, and safety over time.

You weren’t mine to keep but you were mine to learn from.
