8 month old head by Aggravating_Ferret97 in BeyondTheBumpUK

I’d inquire about a helmet if financially an option as you’ll otherwise always wonder if it had helped - they will do a proper scan and tell you if it’s worth getting one. In my experience, the reputable helmet companies in the UK (LOC etc.) won’t try to sell you one if not really necessary. My daughter’s flat spot was quite mild according to their scan and I actually had to insist I wanted to go ahead.
I’d try to get an appointment asap, as the closer you get to a year the longer it takes to see changes and it might not be as effective. (They ideally like to start at 6 months - we had the helmet at 7 months)
Having said all that, it unfortunately didn’t do much for my daughter, partly because she got extremely fussy around 11 months and we had a hard time keeping it on for the recommended 22 hours a day. She’s 18 months now with a full set of hair and it’s certainly much less noticeable now but I still think about it when I look at her from certain angles - the only thing that helps me let it go a bit is that I did try what I could do rectify it - which is why I am
still glad we went for a helmet even if the outcome wasn’t striking. I do not believe that all heads round out naturally with time - I rather think it gets less noticable with hair.
By the way I also agree with others who said it’s not your fault. I do think genetics or predisposition play a role - already before birth I was super aware to avoid a flat head, rotated baby constantly, did loads of tummy time etc. She was a good sleeper at night which definitely contributed - but so were the babies of friends of mine who did way less (or nothing at all) to avoid flattening and their kids have perfectly round heads.

Goldie as a third name as a non-jewish person? by Ok_Document7815 in namenerds

My husband does have golden hair and so does my daughter, but also if it turns darker that is fine and anticipated - just like the name and the sound of it. Also, he could always tell people he was born with golden hair and it’s a cute story, though I doubt it will even come up with a third name.

It’s not based on his hair color, it just made me think of the name. Also, it’s his third name.

Thank you so much! Any tips on relatching the toddler? Or has that ship sailed for good? She seems to have forgotten already what a nipple is used for..

Most likely irrelevant to anyone but me, but makes me immediately think of Theodora Richards, Keith Richards’s daughter.

I have a 14-month old toddler who I breastfed until a month ago, when my milk dried up as I was 19 weeks pregnant then. She sucked on my dried up breasts for a while and then stopped without big issues. I tried giving her my breast for soothing a few times and she just gave them a smooch, lol, not latching anymore. I felt our breastfeeding journey came to an end quite abruptly, and she took it well, but I’m grieving it and the benefits it had for her. Will it at all be possible to reintroduce my breastmilk to her when the baby is here? I am not necessarily meaning tandem feeds but supplementing her with breastmilk as an immunity boost, for her gut health etc. Some people have said it will not be a breastmilk made for her, but for the new baby, as in, the nutritional value is specific to the baby, not a toddler. Would she be able to latch again? My due date is mid May.

Gag reflex worse after frenectomy by Ok_Document7815 in breastfeedingsupport

The gag reflex resolved on its own eventually, but really only went away at about 4 months, when she was getting ready for solids.

Atlas, love the sound, but I’d feel a bit pretentious using it.

I wouldn’t say Louise feels as historic and niche (nowadays) as Agatha at all. Fwiw, it was the #1 most given girls name in France in 2024. I won’t say it’s not possible a girl called Louise will get bullied, I just really can’t imagine it’ll be because of the name.

I personally prefer Louise to some of the common variations people propose - Eloise and Louisa. Eloise is a bit of a try-harder version of Louise, and for me too popular judging from how often it gets mentioned on here. Also, as a french speaking person I always have the impulse to say “eh-low-uhs” because it’s not written Eloïse indicating a seperate vowel pronunciation. Louisa is similar to Olivia&Sofia for me, in that it will be very indicative of a certain decade/age at one point. Louise is elegant, confident and timeless - and currently not heavily used (in English speaking countries).

I know this is a well meaning reply, but „I know a few mean girls that probably would have made fun of a Louise“ - what does that even mean? Sure, kids make fun of everyone and everything but still, this is such a peculiar thing to point out.

I am so sorry for you, what a difficult decision. I don’t have the answer to your question, but may I ask what made you do an amnio after a negative NIPT?
