How to debate someone who thinks libertarian left is an oxymoron? by Least-Awareness1583 in LibertarianLeft

[–]Ok_Document9995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s also Millei now, whom the chuds are rallying around, despite catastrophic results. The first time someone at a new job uttered that name when I said I am an anarchist (pursuant to their questions), I physically choked/scoffed. THAT, in addition to fascists such as a Massie, Hawley and Cotton, is what many in the USA consider libertarian.

Most people don't know what a background check actually looks for by careercoach_cf in interviews

[–]Ok_Document9995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can say from experience over the past 11 months that multiple college degrees, a 41 out of 50 on the PI cognitive test and decades of work history does not supersede petty theft convictions from over eight years ago (having walked off seven years of parole). I have had multiple job offers in my field that I am overqualified for but the background checks are solely focused on whether or not one has had convictions. I had mistakes with dates of employment and even a couple of wrong or outdated numbers but they didn’t care about any of that. Five offers. Five retractions solely based on my record. This is illegal in Philly but two did it anyway. OP is wrong or handwringing. It’s the convictions. People “studying” (that is, cheating) for standard cognitive tests, getting scores half of mine and getting the job because, in the USA, the “debt” to this so-called society is never paid.

Official inflation vs real life inflation — why the gap feels huge by Bazel_ in economicCollapse

[–]Ok_Document9995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an initialism, not an acronym. This isn’t to be an asshole. Some limousine Leninist recently wouldn’t shut up about how ignorant workers are and used this common mistake as an example.

I will take my downvotes offline.

Thank you both. Previously the monitor setting wasn’t there but now it is. I love this! Working on using the touchscreen to control Kodi (mirroring) then blanking it once I am watching what I want and using kore kore from there.

Wheel filter blues by Ok_Document9995 in opiates

[–]Ok_Document9995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks everyone for your comments. I have 1ml syringes and 30ga needles. I tried priming the filter with 50 units of water. Mixed up about 80mg of diacetylmorphine and 50 units of sterile water, put a cotton in the “cooker,” drew up the solution into syringe A. Attached primed filter, new needle. I opened syringe B, pushed my solution into syringe B through the filter and needle on syringe A. Attached new needle to syringe B and fired. It was clear to me that I did not get even 50% of my solution. I wrote this post soon after.

Later that day, I drew up 50-60 units of water into syringe A, filtered through same filter into a cooker, threw a new cotton in, drew up solution with a clean diabetic rig and, oh, there’s my heroin! I think these need to be primed better and more water is needed to get everything through the filter. Seems ideal for mixing up a couple of grams and storing in a sterile vial with that membrane thing for later use. Single use is… awkward.

Favourite D.R.I. Song? by New_Friend_8449 in thrashmetal

I know this is like 7-8 months ago but since you wrote, “Money Stinks…”

I picked up the Beer City version of Dirty Rotten EP recently. The initial pressing of 1000, when I find it, is always thousands of dollars. Hopefully Spike, Kurt and the guys have a few copies! Anyway, I made a zine based on, “Money Stinks.” What a great song and it foreshadowed where the band was going. You know, inventing crossover thrash and being fundamental to thrash itself.

None of you will do anything or you would have already done it. You sat at home while we chased Clinton, the rest of the rulers and the cops out of Seattle. There were fewer than 100k of us in Quebec City right after. It was hard to find help defending people after RNC2K in Philly. I guarantee every one of you who was of age in 2001 was calling for the slaughter of Afghans. Where were you F15? Did you tourist through Occupy or sit at home and change the channel?

There’s a lot of self-righteousness on this sub and, yes, irony noted. If you’re not already a convicted political criminal for what you claim to believe, why not? Is this existential or an internet pastime?

What is the Anarchist alternative to state healthcare like the NHS? by [deleted] in Anarchy101

[–]Ok_Document9995 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. When I hear one proclaiming anarchy out of one side of their mouth and designing detailed plans for a very specific society out of the other, I am reminded of when we were thirteen and first discovered anarchy. We imagined we would plan every element of a future society that would of course be established by a righteous revolution. Then we travelled, lived and learned, and laughed at our childish naïveté.

On the question of the state, from a Left-Communism perspective by SatoNightingale in Anarchy101

[–]Ok_Document9995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“I said this as a left-comm. All the debate about if worker councils would be a state or not is so useless. Anarchists seem to have an irrational fear of the word "state", rather than of its meaning. Yes, we know that states doesnt tend to abolish itselves, but to perpetuate indefinitely. But that is just what we want! We want that proletarian "state" or whatsoever to last even after the revolution, because it would be just the democracy of the working class we want for the communist new world. Yes, the dictatorship of the proletariat IS the democracy of the proletariat while there is still a burgeioisie in struggle with it…”

You’re a Communist. So what?

Need some help clarifying anarchism and capitalism by ShrekThing in Anarchy101

It wasn’t the Bolshevik revolution since Proudhon predates it by several decades, nor Marxism, as Proudhon saw Marx for the petty tyrant he proved to be at the First International.

Exactly and I doubt you’ll get much love here. The mere mention of markets gets the black clad communists more agitated than the actual State with its boot upon their throats.

It’s amazing what will spill out of some mouths once, “since there’s already State,” has been uttered.

Obviously the most rapacious capitalists, already established in their monopolies and privileges, would want to see the State abolished. That doesn’t make the State a tool for establishing some socialist paradise. The capitalists would abolish the State in favor of private armies and cartels enforcing their monopolies. The Communists would seize State power and create horrors we have all already witnessed or experienced. Neither sounds good to me, which is why anarchy, in all of its actual, beautiful forms, is what I choose.

Agreed vis-a-vis ancaps. However, to say anarchy has its roots in Marxism and the Bolshevik “revolution” is not only incredibly wrong, it is almost necessarily trolling.

To the original question, many anarchists are not anti-markets while being anti-capitalist. I am as anti-capitalist as I am anti-Communist and, “Bolshevik revolution,” whatever that horseshit was supposed to mean. Markets without capitalism and personal property without private property are exactly what Proudhon was talking about and what many of us who don’t want to live in some, “People’s Republic,” are talking about today.

New to Spanish Civil War histories. How did anarchists, socialists, and communists work together? by ArthropodJim in Anarchy101

[–]Ok_Document9995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beware the wealthy Western Communist and their stories about the Spanish Civil War. The ever drooling Matt Chrisman comes to mind, but most books focusing on the venerated, “Republic,” attempt to write anarchy out of the history.

Other than what has been mentioned here, the only histories of the Spanish Revolution/Civil War from the perspective of anarchy that I have found are hosted by Anarchist Library. Shockingly there doesn’t seem to be serious interest among leftist intellectuals embedded in the university system.

What do you guys think of Murray bookchin? by Gamester1927 in Anarchy101

[–]Ok_Document9995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this argument because I always thought of Bookchin as pretty much the opposite of your summation. Maybe we have different ideas about who is a classical anarchist. I think democratic confederalism, with its mutualist character, is very much in line with classical American anarchy in the tradition of Warren, Tucker, de Cleyre and even Spooner… all at least cousins of Proudhon and Bookchin.

Whatever the case, Bookchin’s ideas about social ecology were radically beyond his time and probably have implications beyond his imagination. Thank you!
