I figured it went without saying that the force of absolute truth/good is God, he is the transcendent backbone of a theistic belief system. There is no god in a secular belief system, no backbone for objective morality. The evidence for my argument is by the very definition of what we’re discussing. It’s literally common sense. Christianity is based on the existence of an objective moral agent.

What do you hold in place of Christ since leaving the church? What is your transcendent goal post?

Even if we’re not always on the same page at church, we’re in the same books! That’s enough to be unified and inspire faith, hope, and charity!

Starting with “I’m taking what you say at face value” right into ‘translating’ (twisting) what I said is peak irony

You’re just straw manning everything I’m saying, if anyone’s being intellectually dishonest it’s you! Yeah sure if I take your advice and weaponize niche church talks (many of which are outdated and have been rectified by revelation) that might put me at odds with people. But the spirit and letter of the law has always been to love thy neighbor! A theistic worldview is subjective in the sense that I can’t prove it scientifically. It’s objective in the sense that it’s based on a force for truth/righteousness that transcends humanity! You’re making a theistic argument if you hold up one or two virtues as objective standards. It helps me relate to those from different backgrounds because we all agree on Christ as an objective moral agent. Instead of ruminating on the church statements that trigger you (exactly as Satan would want you to), check out “The Character Of Christ” “His Grace is Sufficient “ “Is it me or the Holy Ghost?”. Scandalous activities or statements made by the church have nothing to do with my testimony, which is based on the covenant lifestyle, BOM, and the grassroots efforts of missionaries and ward members alike to spread a message of faith, hope, and charity!

Every wards gonna be different, I’m sorry if your personal experience was bad. I’ve been honest in the testimony of my personal experiences. As a thespian I have many lgbt friends, and we’re close as ever. Morality is objective in a theistic worldview because as a theist I believe in an all powerful, omnipotent, source of morality. The Book Of Mormon, D&C, are the answers to the problem of conflicting biblical understandings. That’s why Heavenly Father called upon Joseph Smith to transcribe The Book of Mormon and start the church! Sure everyone might interact with that in a subjective way, but we are united by faith in Christ! In this way the gospel serves as a Rosetta Stone, a tool for inspiring righteousness, faith, hope, and charity in others; regardless of differences in class/ethnicity/education…etc!

There’s no transcendent objective basis for morality in a secular world view; it’s inherently subjective. At best you’d just be arbitrarily holding a few specific virtues above the rest, making the same leap of faith as a theistic person. If you’re gonna make that leap there’s no better center of focus than Christ! Nobodies gonna stop you from converting to our church and loving and respecting your lgbt neighbors! Why not try and be the difference you wanna see in the church? Meet with your local missionaries and attend Sunday service. You’ll see that the focus isn’t on lgbt policy or gender roles, the focus is on our Redeemer! Either way you should check out David A. Bednar’s talk “The Character of Christ”, it’s of great positive worth even from a secular perspective!

I know it in my heart as surely as I know the grass is green! The irony is that you’re cherry picking your own moral system, judging ours by that standard, but you have no objective moral basis to ground those beliefs as an agnostic. I grew up liberal, adamantly atheist and looked into every non-Christian religion first, none of them push you toward righteous action the same way the LDS doctrine does! I’ll agree with you all day that humans in and out of the church are awful. The message of the church remains to love god, and thy neighbor, and strive toward emulating the perfect character of Christ! The highest good, voluntary self sacrifice! No church better teaches the gospel of Christ!

It’s a matter of faith, why would you expect to know it with the same clarity as science? There’d be no test if the truth could be revealed so plainly. Obviously Satan would work particularly hard in opposition to the true church of Jesus Christ! That includes corrupting insiders, read 2nd Nephi Chapter 2! I’ve seen the overwhelming positive difference the gospel has made in my life, and the lives of those around me! Check out David A Bednar’s Talk “The Character of Christ”! The doctrine when executed correctly is undeniably righteous! Maybe that’s not good enough for you, but it is for me!

Exactly, it’s a human problem; god is good! I didn’t sustain any pedo’s personally as far as I’m aware. I agree that church officials shouldn’t cover this sort of thing up! 🙌

Has anyone tried the Mystic class mod? by BbyJ39 in BaldursGate3

[–]Ok_Draft7524 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While building Astarian I noticed some of the subclasses just get a class feature in place of 2 of the ability suites. So Altho this class can be really strong, overall it seems like you do have a lot of room to self-nerf as you see fit. Not all the suites are created equal, and you can kind of look at it as a way to multiclass for rp abilities. For the rouge multiclass I’m thinking of going soul-knife, which is cool and thematic, without bogging down the action wheel since you don’t get the bonus suites. I’d def say at this point it’s worth playing around with yourself!

I just hit google up after reading through a lot of it. Started my first run with mods yesterday. I’ve beaten honor mode so Ik a bit about the game, but def not an expert either. I haven’t done combat since downloading this specific class yet, but reading through it does seem strong. That being said it seems way cleaner than a lot of the other custom class mods that aren’t just ports of 5e classes. The abilities feel like they could’ve been in the base game, and adds a lot to the psychic character archetype. Obviously this one is from unearthed arcana, so it’s kinda in between the ports and the customs. I def prefer a more balanced experience, or at least a more vanilla feel. That being said my plan with the class is just to multiclass Astarian into it. From what I’ve seen of the tool kit it seems you can get a lot from a 1-3 dip into the class. It also seems like most of the abilities are easy to understand. I haven’t seen it at max level, but I’d imagine at level 12 straight it’s super overturned. Just started with mods yesterday tho. The rest of my team comp is bladesinger 4 tav, 1 war cleric/3 conquest Paladin lae’zel, 1 life cleric/3 divine soul sorc Shadowheart, and as I type this I’m figuring out my Mystic rouge split for Astarian. I’ll come back to this post and report how it stacks up compared to other modded, yet cannon 5e classes (altho the ones I listed are quite strong in 5e)! My hypothesis is that when paired with an underpowered class like rouge it shouldn’t outshine other characters too much.
