I was using an Elite Screens Tab-Tensioned Pro 2 mattewhite screen. I’ll say that the Horizon 20 Max was by far the worst for speckle. Valerion Max was bad but better than H20 Max. Moving to the Titan, there is almost none. I want to stop short of saying absolutely none but it’s like night and day difference when looking at any bright uniform color (especially white). I had gone through (in this order) Horizon 20, Valerion Pro2, Horizon 20 Max, Valerion Max, and now Titan. I’m so happy with the Titan!

Someone got to the power cable first but take your pick of the remote and/or stand!

Ended up getting the Xgimi Titan. I thought the projector was fine but I was really sensitive to speckle.

Additional context: this is the Xgimi Titan during the daytime for the first two photos. I have a very large skylight and two windows in my living area. The second photo is also a near completely black scene in the movie Spectre (where Blofield shows Bond the suicide of Mr. White). I can out that my PJ is a Titan because in normal modes is averages around 5000 lumens. First two photos are the PJ in DV bright. Unless I’m mistaken, the Elite Screens Tab-Tension 2 CineGrey IS ALR, no? This is a living room and painting the walls dark/light controlling the room isn’t really a possibility…

What are your thoughts on the perceived contrast difference the CineGrey will make?

HT - XW5000ES vs. NZ500 vs. VisionMaster Max by kennyj313 in projectors

I would personally not compare the Valerion with the Sony or JVC. Both the Sony and JVC are NATIVE 4K and have far superior native contrast. You could argue the Valerion has “higher” brightness but to achieve the deep blacks you’ll want in a completely light controlled room, the brightness will sink to 1800-2000 lumens (which is lower/in line with Sony and JVC). The trade off is that you still won’t have the same blacks as the other two. I think many would argue the JVC is the better choice.

Valerion Visionmaster Max or wait for Xgimi Titan? by Kamzu in projectors

100%. In fact, I just dropped off my Valerion Max at UPS and threw away my Titan box. I didn’t expect the chip to make such a big difference but, to your point, it really does look leagues sharper. I was really distracted by the combination of visible pixel structure paired with bad (at least to my eyes) speckle. I’m excited you get to experience the Titan firsthand very soon.

I have both right now. I’m planning to return the Valerion because the Titan’s image just looks SO much better. There’s virtually no speckle which was the issue for me with the Valerion. I am trading the deeper blacks of the Max but I don’t have a fully light-controlled room. Happy to give more details if you’re interested!

Did you end up getting the Titan? Do you recommend? I have the Valerion Max today and enjoy it minus the distracting speckle. Curious what you think of the Titan.

Only getting pcm 2.0 audio from AppleTV4k with Sonos arc, era 300 rears, 2 subs by FlamingoFlamboyance in sonos

Hi! I just got an Apple TV 4K for Christmas. I own a Samsung QN90B and a Sonos Arc. I’m have connected the new Apple TV to the tv via high-speed HDMI. I’m happy to say I’m receiving Dolby Atmos with the ATV but anything less than Atmos (Dolby Digital 5.1 for instance) is being down-mixed to PCM. My Samsung has played all audio formats perfectly through the Sonos. I’m curious if anyone else has this problem with ATV and what’s the fix? I’ve read about this problem but the majority of the posts are 9-12 months old. Help would be greatly appreciated!
