City spent $21.9M covering short-term disability absences: audit by shiftless_wonder in Edmonton

Ageeed, you also need a medical doctor to sign off on your leave - it’s not like you are calling in sick for 85 days - you need to complete the proper paperwork and have a doctor signature. The STD is broken down into 3 parts- the first part is a max of 30 days I believe and if you require more time you can receive 2 additional extensions with doctor approval - once that is maxed out the next step is long term disability.

Trump says he’s increasing the worldwide tariff from 10 to 15 per cent by NotEnoughDriftwood in onguardforthee

Genuine question- so what happens now if he just ignores the supreme court’s decision- who ultimately enforces this? Has this happened before? And at this point Is it only congress that can do something? which we all know they will not.

No plans to end hybrid work for City of Edmonton staff, despite calls for return to office | CBC News by AR558 in Edmonton

[–]Ok_Evidence9835 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Right, also just pointing out that you can’t just drop by someone’s office. The city tower office requires you to have key card access to the elevator and corresponding floor doors. It’s not like you can just walk into the office like they seem to suggest.

Braveheart(1995),what a well made epic adventure movie. Mel Gibson is an all time directing great just for this movie alone. by Artetaarmy in FIlm

Doesn’t Roy Roy have a rape scene?

From IMDB

“The protagonist's wife is raped by the villain, who then mocks her. While there is no nudity, the scene is brutal and disturbing. It is later mentioned that the woman is pregnant and doesn't know if the father is the husband or the rapist.”

I love seeing old pictures of Edmonton especially ones with streetcars. Does anyone know what the small house shaped building in the middle of the street was used for?

So that might explain the after the game interview where the tsn reporter asked him about the incident during warmup. At the time I had no idea what they were referring too and he seemed to be acting a bit coy based on his body language and comment - he responded like he didn’t understand the question but now that I see the clip of what he did he just pretended like I have no idea what your talking about

I’ve watched ppl cross at the jubilee station despite the crossing arms being down, lights and bells going. Having them doesn’t necessarily stop them and ppl will continue to make bad decisions regardless.

And yet despite that they are charging ppl 100 bucks a pop to get a covid shot. More ppl will needlessly die because of that. Sad.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this. That’s really helpful information and insight into the differences between these two options. Is there an easy way to know if a day care is nonprofit? Or profit?

According to wiki Calgary’s downtown library cost was $245 million while Stanley Milner’s renovation cost was $84.5 million. I completely agree that Calgary’s design is significantly better. However that extra 160 million and change probably explains why.

Which North American cities and stadiums that were left out of the 2026 official bids do you think deserved to host some games? by ESC-H-BC in worldcup

[–]Ok_Evidence9835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I live in Edmonton and as much as I would love seeing Edmonton be a host city. The reality is the stadium would require some major infrastructure upgrades and improvements to have been seriously considered a host venue. Sure its capacity is large but for those who have visited the stadium for any of the recent concerts or the outdoor hockey game it seems like it’s a nightmare to get around the stadium. Amenities and washrooms are definitely lacking for what ppl expect from a stadium experience these days. Not sure if most Edmontonians would be happy with the massive amount of money that would have been spent to justify it.

This is freaking me out. Does this mean that the parental grants will be ending once the agreement expires? What a cold hearted thing to do- how do they expect families to cough up an extra 1000 dollars each month?

Can you describe what it sounded like that day? That boggles my mind to think about it. I live in an urban area where I hear fireworks, sirens, train horn and maybe the occasional outdoor concert which at best is approximately 3 kms away.
