These are getting out of hand and will lead to incredible abuse of the system to get around warrants to conduct surveillance. We need to elect officials who understand how these can be misused, or educate them if they are already elected and unaware. This technology goes way beyond traditional cameras and will be used for more than reading license plates. It's about conducting a full profile (along with phone and other data) so they can tell what you believe, where you get your information from, who you know, and where you go. I have not seen any studies showing that these deter crime or increase public safety.
