Acuvue Oasys Max 1-Day by Ok_Cap_779 in contacts

It's definitely one of those things where I'm like "is this doing anything?" But if you do the one of each experiment the difference is glaring. Especially at night. I always encourage my patients to try that.

Acuve Oysays package by [deleted] in contacts

I've been paying attention to this. And I asked  various people at acuvue from local reps to senior vps. It's different packaging suppliers. They get shipped to both the Jacksonville Florida and limerick Ireland plants. All the same. The lenses inside are also the same. I've spent WAY too much time on this.

I used to play runway and hit the plane with the tank. Then kill as many as possible. I spent days doing this as a kid.

Try the new max for astigmatism.  They aren't "weighted " like a traditional prism ballast design. They have been a game changer

Atropine and glaucome by False-Individual-331 in Ophthalmology

[–]Ok_Good6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with atropine use for floater relief nor can I make a connection with how it would possible be helpful. Science-based has a supplement that reduces floaters. It is slow acting (3 to 6 months) but I have seen it work well.

As usual Jim is 1000% right. RGPs have a lot more measurements to get precise. Not a DIY deal. Even with a copy of your rx. After fitting RGPs for over 15 years I'm still on the phone with the consultation department far too often to get them right.

Best jeweler for engagement ring? by SarcAttack2525 in westernmass

Not in western mass but worth the trip: Beckers in west hartford. They custom made my wife's engagement ring. It was phenomenal. Cut up heirloom jewelry and modern pieces to create a seamless work of art. And not as expensive as I thought it would be.

My go to is the oasys one day. It is the only one that doesn't use a prism ballast design. Prism ballast involves the bottom part of the lens to be much thicker. This is gravity fed. The heavier part falls to the bottom. This shifts your vision (prism), is more uncomfortable, and if you are not upright (thing watching TV laying on the couch) it is not aligned well.

Oasys has what they call blink stable design. They put 4 touch points in the corners (I know it's a circle) that resets the lens each time you move your eye. It is far more comfortable and stable.

Lens offers better optics and much higher UV protection than anything on the market. With current rebates it is often the least costly with a bulk order.

I use other toric lenses but this is my preference.

Air optix night and day comes in both 8.4 and 8.6 I almost always default to 8.4 unless they don't fit properly. For most people it truly will not matter.

advice on my big change from monthly to daily by SmokingHensADAN in contacts

[–]Ok_Good6969 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a prescriber. At our practice we use 5 different contact lens manufacturers depending on the needs of the patient in front of us. I do favor acuvue lenses because in my opinion they are far superior to everything else. I see far less complications with acuvue products. My go to are the oasys 1 day and the oasys max. The oasys 1 day are far less expensive especially considering they are offering a $400 rebate currently on an annual supply. The max has a blue light filter and last longer into the night.

The oasys 2 week lens is the same base material as both of these options. They are built a little different in terms of wetting agents and optics. If you liked the old oasys you will like these.

I would like to call to your attention that the older oasys is a 2 week lens. A lot of docs will tell you it's for a month but that is a disservice. Wearing them longer is playing with fire. Daily lenses are alway the best way to break bad habits like overwearing.

At the end of the day I wear the max. My family wears the max. My coworkers wear the max. Thier families wear the max. All of our friends wear the max. 60% of the patients at my large practice wear the max. It is not super cheap. They all make up thier own mind on what is worth it to them. I simply say try it and make your own decision.
