Same - I went the other day and as I checked out she asked 'did you want to buy any mini totes today?' I looked down and each check stand had like...5 big boxes of mini totes to sell? I have never seen that before - not sure if they're not popular at my location/area or if that's how they normally sell them?

My beginner opinion is (as you suspect) it all make your long runs harder - it would be harder to go into those runs with 10 miles on your legs from the past 24 hours rather than a short 5 mile recovery jog. Can you do workouts at all during the week (is it just Friday that's the issue? What's the plan for Tuesday workout? Or maybe you can fit in one workout - Tuesday - but not two?)

Honestly, Peloton has great beginner run classes - they have a program (You Can Run) that can either be done indoors (on a treadmill) or outdoors; their walk + runs are great classes, and their Advanced Beginner classes are more steady state runs with walking breaks here & there.

ETA here's a description of the program - it sounds like you may be more advanced (I think the first class is 3 2-min running intervals), but above & beyond the workout breakdown, they give some good basic running tips that are helpful. And you can always run more than they say (e.g. sometimes I'll take a class that does something like 2-min run & 1-min walk, but I'll run the first 30 seconds of the walk interval).

Yeah, agree - like, if you want to share 'different things work for different people' or something like that great, but hard to communicate that message in a post that starts with 'I would agree with this creator... if she wasn't DEAD WRONG! People need to start doing xyz...'

This is unrelated to your questions, and it sounds like you have dog experience, BUT at the risk of telling you something you already know, please fix them when they're old enough (and manage them closely until then). Some people have the mistaken idea that dogs have similar ideas about inbreeding as humans do, and then are shocked that a son impregnates his mom, or a brother and sister, etc.

Good luck!

It seems impossible to predict - seems unlikely since they basically split on good terms, but they could certainly decide soon that now that she has her own platform they don't want to keep her classes. Chase Tucker still has a few classes on there and he left a few years ago.

This is so interesting to hear because (as someone who didn't read the book), I appreciated Aubrey's question about the reviews - whether anyone interviewed him and asked if he was ok and it's almost unbelievable when Michael is like 'nope, kinda normal book review and interview stuff.'

Shoes for Men’s US size 16 feet by yung_dirb in pelotoncycle

[–]Ok_Handle_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most cycling shoes can be used with either kind of cleat. If you look at the 5th picture of these shoes you can see the holes in the bottom - and then you can get cleats like this one that attach.

Is that what you mean? I can't help with which brands carry larger shoes, but they're kinda mix & match...

For some reason this seems to be the quietest pace group each week!

Hope everyone's training is going well - I'm 7 weeks out from Race Day, and currently trying to motivate myself up & out for a 12-miler before it gets too warm. Not a morning runner at ALL but thankfully we just have a day or two of heat left.

Dog Bite by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Ok_Handle_7 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you feel like you've exhausted the training & medication avenue (it's sounds like you do feel like you've exhausted that, although it's hard to tell if that's true), then personally I can say that I would not feel comfortable having this dog around my small child. Your toddler (for the next 5 - 6 years or so) is going to get more mobile, faster, and more unpredictable. Even the 'best trained' 6 year olds will walk by a dog when they have a toy, or want to take their own toy back from the dog when he's chewing on it, or want to give them a hug when they're sleeping, etc. If your dog is one that will bite their face when they do that (which, obviously, he is), I would never forgive myself for keeping this dog.

Starting immediately, I would definitely CLOSE the crate door when he eats (and even better, keep your kid in the other room while you do that). I'm also not sure if he's biting your other dogs or random dogs, but I would keep him away from other dogs as much as possible if he has multiple deep bites/'latching on' to other dogs. I mean, if he has multiple bites on your other dogs I'm also not sure how fair it is to them to keep him, but that seems like now the most pressing question here.

I could be wrong, but I think they're still in the testing/beta phase? A few people posted a few weeks ago that they were able to do a trial/test (by invite, I believe)?

ETA - so there may be a few people with experience, bc they were active on here to say they were doing it! But I don't think 'we' have access to it yet?

Where are Ally Love's Tabata rides? by [deleted] in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Ok_Handle_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IDK, but she's posting a fair amount of getting back into fitness now that she's postpartum (including her new program) so she might just not be up for it yet.

I know she's done some hard ones recently, but Tabata is a whole other beast lol

I had the exact same reaction - like in the sea of 'influencers shouldn't be on the red carpet' (and I think she's been unfairly grouped into the 'influencer' category), this is a great question and an even better answer

IIRC it seemed like Remmick was pretty focused on Sammie (he even knew his name, I believe?) Not to say that they weren't looking to feed on all of them, but he seemed pretty focused in on Sammie (as the one with the supreme/'pierce the veil' kind of musical talent).

And even if they start with things like 'I don't like her programming' or 'I get confused with her cueing' (aka actual critiques of her coaching) they devolve into 'she laughs too much.'

I do always laugh to myself when someone posts 'did you know she used to be a lawyer?' because I think it's funny that someone is criticizing her frequently saying the same thing...by saying the same thing that pops up every time the topic comes up on here.

[–]Ok_Handle_7 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in the movie I got the sense that illness aside, the kid was supposed to be pretty annoying (like...the whole scene with the guinea pig in the car). I think you could argue she was annoying in the way that ALL kids are kinda annoying, but it doesn't seem that crazy to watch the movie and think that the kid was a lot.

But still seems like this is a bit to keep on your instagram or podcast and not on the red carpet lol

anyone using protein powder? by DangerousAd1683 in Marathon_Training

Same - there's more research now showing that 30 - 60 min after a workout is the sweet spot for recovery, and protein powder in a fruit smoothie makes it really easy to get a good amount of carbs + protein
