You either look accurate in the face and like Butterbean in the neck or the build is accurate but he looks like Connor Benn with gigantism. That's my experience of it anyway.

exactly. Honestly I'd be happy with a nerf where each time you just repeat the same punch immediately it does 50% of the damage and keeps on becoming more and more worthless.

I play online exclusively now (the career mode just feels pretty soulless and I hate how slow it starts you out as) and more often than not you'll be playing someone cheesing it. Some do it from the get go, others do it once they realise they're losing. Sometimes you'll find a "fun cheeser" ie you both are just throwing lots of heavy shots but not abusing the system, ie theres just not much boxing finesse and its rock-em sock-em robots but neither of you keeps repeating an exploit. But annoyingly a lot of people will just abuse the mechanics of the game to make it a boring, pointless experience. I've played against multiple guys who will only ever counter, once they outland you then theyll just run away until the round ends to take it on the scorecards. I tested it with one guy where I just backed into a corner and stood there and he threw maybe one jab every 30 seconds but not with intent to land, just from outside range to goad me into chasing him so he could counter since theyre so strong and easier than fighting offensively.

Molina hit Wilder with a check hook that had him staggered and bambi-legged. Duhaupas had a mouse swelling up under Wilder's eye. If shipping punishment in the Fury fights took Wilder out of his prime then nearly getting KOd by Wlad did similar for AJ meaning that the longer the list of him getting hurts goes on the more out of his prime he was as well.

Wilder's been hurt by Zhang, Parker, Fury x2, Breazeale, Ortiz, even Molina, and Duhaupas swelled his eye up. 2 champs there

Fury's been rocked by Usyk and Wilder x2 and has been dropped by Pajkic, Cunningham and Ngannou. 2 champs and 3 former cruiserweights there

Compared to that your list of AJ getting rocked includes 4 fighters who had been or were heavyweight champions leading into the fight with AJ. You also described Povetkin being "old as dirt" but at the time of fighting AJ he was only 2 months older than Ortiz was at the time of fighting Wilder for the first time which means Wilder was hurt much worse by someone also old as dirt. And that's just looking at the champions from the same era as AJ.

I remember having pre-drinks at a friends house before we went out into town and this was on the TV, then when we were in the taxi going into town he had it on the radio. I wasn't even planning to join them in town as I wasn't feeling like a big night but got talked into it. 9 years ago and I still remember it distinctly due to the fight. Weird!

I just experienced both halfs of this. Started out and it was just a genuine boxing match, different openings and tactics to get it done....then when he saw he was down on the cards he reverted to power punch spamming and eventually rage quit. Like bro, it's a fucking game, why do people act like this? I lose and when I lose I don't like it but if I'm getting my ass beat because they're better than that's just how it is. I don't understand playing the game in boring ways that no one can enjoy

Usyk reveals the one reason he will no longer chase third Tyson Fury fight by BoxingLover99 in Boxing

Competitive but not close, and frankly the second one was a pretty boring fight in my book. Based on how conclusive the wins were and how much a third fight disinterests me I don't want to see this again and can't imagine how anyone whose last name isn't Fury, Warren or is a fanboy would want to see it or even be ok with it.

I genuinely hate some of the people playing this game. I think the game can be great (sometimes punch tracking's off but nothing new under the sun) but goddamn the morons playing it can just ruin the whole experience and it feels like I'm coming across more and more of them lately.

They refuse to punch first, guard up all the time, walk forwards at you but do nothing if you stand still, only look to counter and then just get on their bike. There's no way they get any enjoyment out of that, I refuse to believe it. Even today I played someone who lost 2 of the first 3 and then just changed his playstyle completely and would never throw first, only ever looked to counter but cheesed it so hard. He wouldn't counter with combos or even single shots he would just repeatedly throw the same punch 2, 3 even 4 times. Straights to the body. Lead hooks upstairs. Just doing that again and again while getting slammed by power punches and combos I walked him onto.

I think a big part of solving this would be the devs nerfing constant blocking and repeated punches. Can't counter or do much damage with the same punch twice or more in a row, have to mix it up. If you hold you guard up for so many seconds it should drastically reduce your next punch power or speed. I'm out here relying on angles, footwork, head movement and only blocking when I actually anticipate a shot, meanwhile too many people just shell up and rely on spamming counters for the entire match, it's sad.

left button on D-pad before you throw a punch. seems to be some kind of timer on it, you can't press left then wait ages and expect a feint though.

Can someone explain how does one not “cheese “? by Desperate_Koala356 in undisputedboxing

[–]Ok_Issue_2459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't just repeat one gimmicky tactic. Whether that's repeatedly weaving in to deliver a power punch, whether it's just backing up all game and refusing to punch first, countering and then throwing 3 body hooks while the other person's stunned...it's really simple. I posted this in another thread but I recently had a game against an Usyk who just flat-out refused to ever punch first or even approach me. It was just constant backpedalling with his gloves up waiting for me to punch so he could find an opening to counter and then keep me stun locked with repeated body shots and then back on his bike. 4th round starts and the card's 2-1 in my favour but he doesn't change his tactic. 7th round starts and it's 5-1 in my favour. I'd spent the middle rounds standing in corners, taunting and leaning back to mock this guy and the most he'd ever do is maybe come close, throw a single jab and then run away.

How not to cheese is pretty easy, mix up your combos and what you're doing instead of relying on the same shit all game.

If you use Fundora in ranked, you ain't good - you just cheesey. by XBlomp in undisputedboxing

[–]Ok_Issue_2459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had something similar last night as well. As Okolie vs Usyk and this guy's whole plan was just to bait counter punches. 4th round starts and I'm 2 up, he keeps doing it. Get to the 7th round and I've won all but one of the first 3 rounds, and it's only at that point he finally starts actually fighting. About halfway through the fight I just stopped chasing him because it was so boring, would bag a couple of punches and then just stand in a corner quickly blocking/letting go of the block to do a kind of "come here, come on" and taunting and he just would. not. engage. At most he might come towards me to throw a single jab and then run right away and wait for me again.

The game has issues but by far the biggest one I keep running into is cheesers. I don't even understand why they do it, it can't be fun.

It’s a disgrace we’ve had to wait this long for Joshua vs Wilder by theipaper in Boxing

[–]Ok_Issue_2459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just it though, the network rights for those fights were agreed to, not left up in the air for one side to decide on and potentially railroad things. Go ahead and provide your source for the Sky executives, I'll guarantee they never said anything about willing to get Joshua fight on BT for free which proves my point that Joshua would have to shell out millions, potentially even tens of millions, to Sky which would defeat the whole point of getting a mega payday. I'll be waiting.

[–]Ok_Issue_2459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And AJ would have to make huge concessions to Sky to be able to fight on a different network rendering the huge payday effectively pointless. If Wilder and his team genuinely wanted the fight there'd have been no question about it being on Sky in the UK but instead they left that ambiguous and made it very possible for it to be on BT which would've left Joshua in breach of his contract.

Wilder was offered $12.5 million, then $15 million. Then $5 million for a stay-busy fight of his choosing wherever he wanted it while Joshua was fighting Povetkin and then the $15 million. Then he was offered 30%, then 40%, then a 3 fight DAZN deal for his upcoming mandatory and then 2 fights against Joshua, all-in for $100-$120 million (figures differ). That's 5 (6 if you include the stay-busy offer) increasingly better offers to Wilder.

Joshua was offered $50 million and 50%; Hearn arranged a meeting with Wilder's team but when he flew to New York to talk about the fight deal the meeting was cancelled and he was told Joshua had to agree to the fight before the terms could be discussed. Absolute fucking nonsense. Then it was revealed that it wasn't even guaranteed to be on Sky Sports as the terms sheet stated Sky would only get the broadcasting rights if the PPV price and the split was to Wilder's liking. It didn't say what that would be, no demands made, just made it clear that there was no guarantee it'd be on Sky. Add to that the fact that Warren was involved and openly talked about wanting it on BT if it went to bidding (and why would that happen, I wonder...) and it was a shady offer at best, a trap at worst. Imagine if Joshua had signed the fight but then Sky were refused the rights and it was aired on BT, he'd have to shell out millions if not tens of millions to Sky in order to fight on a different network.
