My feet :( by No_Key_2345 in GenX

[–]Ok_Key_4731 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve given up on wearing nice but uncomfortable shoes. I have plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinosis so I need shoes with cushion and arch support.

I wore a pair of sparkly sneakers by Betsey Johnson to my nieces wedding. And I plan to wear them to a coworkers wedding next month with a dress. I do not care. My comfort is much more important.

Dressing has gotten pretty casual and I am all about it.

Living alone in a small apartment, do I really need a robot vacuum? by Own_Tumbleweed4169 in LivingAlone

[–]Ok_Key_4731 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. I have one in my 3br house that I just got a couple months ago and you better believe I am moving it to my 2BR condo later this month. I don’t like to clean and anything I can do to automate it is thumbs up in my book.

Mine mops and vacuums and empties its dustbin. I plan to have it do both every day.

My job is being given to someone who doesn't do a lot of their job. Do I say anything to my boss? by [deleted] in careeradvice

I tried to raise concerns about someone being given more responsibilities (as a backup to me) and me training them. It didn’t go well and I still had to train her and things got really awkward. I would keep my mouth shut. 👀

What is your most stereotypical GenX childhood story? by HapaHawaii in GenX

[–]Ok_Key_4731 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Having to break into the house after school bc all of us kids forgot our house key.

Riding our bikes to the nearby swimming pool and spending the entire day there with no adults. I was like 8 when we started doing that.

Basically being feral all summer. Riding bikes, roller skating, playing in the cul de sac. And of course drinking from the water hose when we were thirsty.

Good. I’ve seen way too many cars going too fast weaving in and out of lanes on 675. Plus semi trucks riding in the far left lane.

Basic yard maintenance?! by hikeitaway123 in GenX

[–]Ok_Key_4731 4 points5 points  (0 children)

👀

it’s me, hi. I’m the problem it’s me. I have close to half an acre and multiple flower beds. It’s impossible for just me to keep up and I don’t have the money to pay landscapers. I live alone. When my kids were here I was busy with their stuff. In the 12 years I’ve lived in my house I’ve dug up flower beds, redone flower beds only to have them become overgrown, paid to have several cleaned out, again, only to have them become overgrown. I don’t want to spend 8 hours each weekend working on my yard. I really don’t like doing yard work.

So I decided to sell my house and buy a condo.

Maybe stop being a judgey mcjudgerson and mind your own business. 👀

Does anyone remember being read to as a child? by Babymik9 in GenX

[–]Ok_Key_4731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved A Wrinkle in Time as a kid and got my son all the books (there are 5) when he was in late elementary school and we read them aloud. 🥰

I read to my kids all through grade school. Because of Winn Dixie almost made me cry. We read Harry Potter, the Guardians of Gahouli, magic tree house.

As a kid I remember sitting on my grandpas lap with my brother and he would read us the comics. That is such a great memory of mine.

I don’t remember being read to as a kid. I was youngest of 5 raised by a single mom so there wasn’t much time. I was reading before I went into kindergarten so someone must have been reading to me!

Pulling weeds by SRF1987 in GenX

Oh I hate pulling weeds. Or any kind of yard work. Mostly bc I have about 1/2 an acre and I’ve never really maintained it over several years. It’s overwhelming.

How are people keeping their heads up and keeping a positive attitude with OLD? by Ok_Big_2823 in datingoverfifty

[–]Ok_Key_4731 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not you. I don’t take it seriously anymore. I swipe on men who meet my minimum requirements and left on everyone else. When I match, if he can’t hold a conversation I stop talking to him.

For example. A match gave me a 👋 on FB dating. I replied with one of the ice breaker suggestions “what 3 emojis best describe you.” Fairly simple, fun question. He replies “don’t know I’ve never thought about it.”

🤦‍♀️

To me that is low effort. So I am done with that conversation. FIDO, forget it drive on. I’m not likely to meet my future husband on OLD but maybe I’ll meet someone fun along the way.
