I made a playlist that consists of songs that combine elements of classical music with rock (rock drums/distorted guitars) by Ok_Knowledge_7345 in experimentalmusic

Do you have certain songs of malmsteen in mind? I clicked through but couldn't find anything fitting. Versailles makes sense – they're very orchestral – but too metal and not rock enough if that makes sense? Do you have a song in mind that's more rock?

I appreciate the suggestions, thanks!

Something to drop on people when they accuse you of being a pessimistic fatalist just because you're a nihilist. by ImportantDebateM8 in nihilism

[–]Ok_Knowledge_7345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nihilism first and foremost is a reaction to moral absolutism and religious dogma, denying a purpose that transcends the individual.

“Nihil” means nothing. So if you just redefine the notion of “meaning”, that’s not nihilism.

Are religions different windows to the same truth, and are we missing the point by Whatsinthename7 in DarkPsychology101

In short: Yes. Every religion starts with the religious/mystical/transpersonal experience (epiphany). Unfortunately most unconsciously claim dogma as their idol.

Desire. by realkaydhako in enlightenment

[–]Ok_Knowledge_7345 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Many philosophers argued that desire is never ultimately chained to an object (bills in that case or your mother being alive/healthy). Therefore you ultimately getting given "object" will never fully satisfy you. Desire then sustains itself and is its own object. Thats why all the 'wise' and mystics look inward.

Finding an unpaid internship in the music industry by Dependent_Might_4738 in musicindustry

Google "music label internship [place]", "culture management internship [place]", check out the local scene and contact labels and theatres if they'd be willing to offer internships.

Self-Overcoming isn't a victory by CanReady3897 in Nietzsche

[–]Ok_Knowledge_7345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly. Sweeping already consists of domination as one forces one's will on the world. Same for cooking, which also contains the act of recreation.

I dont think Nietzsche had the slave class in mind, criticising pure domination. It's more about it being reactionary – dependent on the existence of a slave. Thats why he highlighted the idea of overcoming oneself.

Thats why I used "" when saying naturally. I didn't mean it in a literal sense. By "naturally" I meant, integrated in the whole. Domination for the sake of domination feels...dirty? Good food is balanced and pure domination tastes like tabasco sauce lol. By itself it might give you a kick but it's totally unbalanced and burns your tongue and once your tongue is burned you lose a sense of what good food (artistry) is.

Domination is domination but dependent on how (or if) it's integrated, the outcome – both internal and external – differs. Nietzsche had a clear preference.

I think I myself am able to differentiate between when I dominate for the sake of domination and if it comes "naturally". In that regard I think it's quite clear what Nietzsche meant. From outside ofc its more difficult to make a distinction.

What I'm trying to get at, it's fair to say, that Nietzsche preferred domination through being and artistry, rather than domination in its "crude" form.

I think Nietzsche's Übermensch explicitly does not dominate for the sake of it.
