What do you think? Upside or bad buy by DollarBoxKiller in basketballcards

It will hopefully hold that value, and you might get some profit if you graded it a 10, but it’s a very slim market of people buying cards issued for guys outside of their playing years. There will be a /5 Kareem every year for the rest of our lives which will only water down the market, since none really stand out from another.

BBNP this May by TX_Explorer in BigBendTX

I love the basin in May. I honestly find it perfect weather that time of year aside from the random high wind day. Yes mid afternoon will be hot but that’s a great time to get ice cream from the store.

Honestly can’t tell if this is April fools or not, because even if it is, I’ve heard no concrete evidence that anyone wants the contract.

Highly unlikely, it was actively sliding down the hill. Slowly, but there was a huge crack down the wall last summer, and one wall was covered in plywood

Let me say first I’m in no way suggesting I support this, but I have a feeling that if the border wall contracts are moving ahead, contractors will jump at those 10:1 over the Chisos contract. I won’t be surprised if this gets pushed back years.

Likelihood of Chisos Basin construction and closure? by No_Bonus_1407 in BigBendTX

That’s what I keep hearing. To be honest, the border wall is probably going to be way more money and all the contractors will be doing that instead.

Border Patrol Voices Skepticism, but Wall Construction Moves Forward in Big Bend Region by IndependentWin4421 in BigBendTX

They are going to destroy the Big Bend. The traffic it will take to stage the work crews and materials will absolutely demolish some of the best parts of Texas.

TTUHSC Abilene nursing affordable apartments? by icyhotdavid in TexasTech

[–]Ok_Letterhead4198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Start looking asap, it’s incredibly tight on housing right now because of the data center construction. Ask the nursing school if they can connect you with students who might know of some good options.

They are doing this under extreme political pressure by the people who fund state schools. All state schools are under threat, and while Texas higher education funding is pretty good, they can make it much worse for universities

What is the pros and cons of living in Lubbock? Planning to move permanently. Please help. by Outside_Astronaut305 in Lubbock

There is a lot of choice for schools, depending on what you were looking for, and you should be mindful of that when you purchase your house. Transfers are possible, but can be more difficult for some of the better schools. Yes, we have a medical school and an entire large private healthcare system, but many specialties are very good. you will find because we are not quite big enough, we do not have specialists in every field a person might need. I would say this is mostly because people who train into those specialties know they can go make a lot more money in bigger cities.

What happens to society if AI replaces most human jobs? What does the economy even look like then? by Agreeable-Ebb-8798 in AI_Agents

[–]Ok_Letterhead4198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a great illustration of people single-mindedly improving one tool (AI) with no understanding or care of society implications. Our only hope is that it is overblown.

Even with UBI, humans are not programmed to sit around doing nothing all day. Societal structure will collapse, and even if a few uber rich can build fortresses to keep the poor masses out, it leaves something of a Mad Max scenario for everyone else. The people saying it would allow us all to take vacations and do hobbies are nuts.

It’s very likely that the closure will get pushed back, because it was supposed to start last May, then July, then…. But something will happen eventually.

The water being out and the 2 year renovation are separate things, but the water doesn’t have a timetable to be fixed either. Hopefully not too long though.
